Organization overview
MoveOn is a community of millions of people committed to creating progressive change. MoveOn members have emerged as a pillar of the Resistance, standing in solidarity with communities on the front lines of Trump's attacks, mobilizing opposition to Donald Trump and the GOP's toxic agenda, and defending our democracy.
In 2018, we helped create a blue wave that ended GOP control of the House and elected dynamic leaders at the state and local level. Now we're working to combine grassroots energy with creative campaigns and tech innovation to build a powerful movement that reaches beyond those already politically engaged to bring in a new, diverse generation of activists in order to defeat Trump and Republicans in 2020 and pave the way for progressive governing.
In our external campaigning as well as our internal work together as a team, we seek to advance core values of equity and inclusion, including a commitment to identifying and uprooting unjust oppression. We know social identities including race, gender, immigration status, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, ability, and more can show up in organizations and the movement in ways that provide unfair advantages to some while unfairly disadvantaging others. We will expect you to partner with us in supporting equity and opposing oppression as we collaborate together.
Overview of the project
MoveOn is seeking proposals for a contractor who can
build and cultivate relationships with cultural leaders, celebrities, and artists that connect the issues they care about with MoveOn's work in ways that engage diverse audiences, especially young people and people of color, and
help conceive and develop special digital projects that have a cultural or celebrity angle to engage especially young people and people of color in MoveOn's work.
MoveOn has a history of working with cultural leaders and celebrities. In the past, we've partnered with celebrities such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Ruffalo, and Alyssa Milano, created stunning imagery with artists such as Shepard Fairey and Pablo Stanley, and produced viral video content and mini documentaries. In 2019, we're focusing on using culture as a catalyst to promote progressive values and engage people who don't consider themselves political in ways that are actionable, connected, and extensible.
