We are seeking a Campaign Manager to work on a Virginia general assembly election for a very strong candidate with good support among both grassroots organizers and the party base/establishment, in Northern Virginia. Primary responsibilities include regular development and updating of the candidate's strategic plan for the campaign, executing it, and holding all members of the organization accountable. This position requires an applicant comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and ready and willing to solve unforeseen challenges with speed and efficiency, utilizing their own and other campaign team members' abilities. Thorough managerial abilities is needed. Strong interpersonal skills are a must and a willingness to work collaboratively with supporters, staff, volunteers and community members to motivate everyone to accomplish primary objectives is required. Age of applicant does not matter. Having all the ideal skills and experiences is not a must but the ability to accomplish all responsibilities, utilizing applicant's own skill set or that of the other members of the campaign is of utmost importance.
Ideal Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in elections, especially in Democratic primary campaigns.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience in finance operations preferred, especially call time, along with knowledge of campaign funding sources.
- Previous management of staff.
- Strong writing and speaking skills.
- Ability to problem-solve independently and take creative approaches to meet goals.
- Ability to work with a consulting team.
- Proficiency using Votebuilder/VAN/TargetSmart,
and Google Docs. - Must be able to work campaign hours, as well as nights and weekends as needed (mostly closer to the date of the election).
- Must have a driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the campaign including field, finance, and communications.
- Administer the campaign budget and strategy.
- Ensure accountability of staff, programs, and activities by developing, setting, and implementing performance milestones, and ensuring these milestones are met.
- Regular reporting of quantitative and qualitative data, mainly data stemming from voter outreach efforts.
- Draft communication, endorsement, and outreach materials as needed.
- Developing and executing plans to bring political, and otherwise, local leaders to help with the campaign in their individual capacities.
- Manage relationships with consulting firm, advisers, and local leaders.
- Oversee and ensure successful execution of free media strategy.
- Ensure execution of all necessary aspects of finance plan.
- Mobilizing groups for direct voter outreach operation, with the assistance of our databases and ~300 volunteers.
- Scheduling and managing the candidate's time properly.
