JOB DESCRIPTION for FIELD DIRECTOR
BOULDER LIBRARY CHAMPIONS
https://www.boulderlibrarychampions.org
Boulder Library Champions is a citizens group dedicated to obtaining sustainable funding for our public library. To achieve this end, we are working to establish a library district, an action that requires voter approval for funding and possibly establishment of the district. A ballot measure to create a library district may be placed on the ballot by the County Commissioners through resolution, or through a citizen petition signed by 100 electors residing within the proposed district boundaries. We are currently involved in a petition drive to ensure that this question will be on the ballot on November 5, 2019.
This is a full-time position from August 2019 to October 2019, and a quarter time position in June and July as campaign strategy is developed, and in November as campaign data is captured and tabulated. The campaign will be conducted in and around the City of Boulder, Colorado as illustrated in the attached map. This campaign will rely heavily on direct voter contact: cutting the turf, putting bodies on the ground, and leveraging the networks of local volunteers for phone banking and direct mail.
The Field Director will report to the volunteer Campaign Committee. Anticipated salary is $3,000/month.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- • Developing the strategy of a Field program; planning the tactics; overseeing the execution, including an intimate knowledge of establishing phone banks and canvassing.
- • Building and maintaining relationships with local activists and elected officials
- • Assigning staff and volunteers with goals, metrics, and assignments
- • Ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met and exceeded
- • Coach and develop Volunteer Coordinator on best practices for volunteer recruitment and retention
- • Ensuring that all required reporting is accurate and timely and that all field data is entered on time.
- • Monitoring metrics within each assigned region including flake rate, confirmation rate, knocks per shift, dials per shift, and average shifts per volunteer; implementing rigorous systems to meet assigned goals associated with these metrics.
- • Representing the campaign at community events and meetings.
Qualifications:
- • At least one cycle of competitive field experience.
- • Strong knowledge of Nation Builder (or equivalent, e.g. Votebuilder/VAN).
- • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Basic computer literacy, database skills, and access to a reliable portable computer.
- • Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast paced, metrics driven work environment.
- • Must have reliable access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license.
- • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
- • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
