Role Overview
Houston City Council campaign is seeking a Campaign Manager for the November 2019 election. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to helping elect the very best candidate in a hotly contested municipal race. This position is through mid-November.
The Campaign Manager will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, ultimately ensuring that the campaign is on task to hit field, finance, and digital metrics. The Campaign Manager will work closely with the Candidate and the general consulting team to review and carry out the field and finance plans. Previous field and/or finance experience is preferred.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the candidate's schedule, including but not limited to call time and events
Manage the progress of all departments of the campaign: Field, Finance, Digital
Work hand in hand with consultants and vendors to implement strategy for the candidate
Lead in the development of communication structures and reporting systems
Handle technical aspects of compliance and processing including making sure all deadlines are met
Help to plan and lead events to expand volunteer and voter involvement
Provide on-going support to the candidate for all political strategy and communications
Assist with press statements, releases, candidate questionnaires, and other paperwork
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with different types of stakeholders
Experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
Excellent time management and calendar management skills
Strong communication skills and ability to communicate priorities, needs and expectations to other staff
Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting — flexible hours to accommodate campaign-style work hours especially during the last few weeks before the election
Flexibility and willingness to travel
Transportation & Drivers License (must have a vehicle)
Preferred Background & Experience
One cycle of campaign experience; field and finance experience preferred
Proficiency with Votebuilder/VAN and NGP
