Position Summary:

The Manager, Email Strategy is a highly entrepreneurial, creative marketing and communications professions with a sharp eye for written details, excellent writing skills, and a strong interest in the creative, strategic planning and deployment of email, SMS and web for engaging marketing communications for a mission-driven organization and membership dedicated to realizing educational equity. The manager will create and manage ongoing email, SMS and web marketing campaigns and strategies --  expertly managing thematic development and segmentation, triggered and nurture campaign execution, content curation, landing page creation and collateral creation to support LEE's engagement goals in tight alignment with member and stakeholder engagement objectives.

Position Location: Flexible; New York City or Washington, D.C. strongly preferred; Chicago, Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay Area acceptable

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

Responsibilities:

Managing Email & SMS campaign planning & Development (70%)

  • Build and update email and SMS templates for team use
  • Build & implement email & SMS campaigns
  • Support teams to use email templates and process, encouraging the use of "email express" with templates over customized email content
  • Chart (in partnership with tech UX manager) automations to drive a dynamic end-user experience across campaign content
  • Plan (in close alignment with the email assistant) ongoing A/B tests to test and evolve content
  • Make data insights available across platforms & campaigns

Web content manager (30%)

  • Manage website content
  • Develop landing pages aligned to email & SMS campaigns
  • Maintain the LEE website, updating content on an ongoing basis

This position reports to the Director of Digital Strategy and will work in close alignment with a communications sub-team including an email assistant and copyeditor.​​

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in digital marketing and communications with strong experience in email marketing and engagement
  • Strong email marketing insights and exceptional familiarity with email platforms and their use in digital marketing and engagement
  • Strong data orientation
  • Excellent writing skills and experience managing email campaigns

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce, enterprise-level email strategy
  • Experience with designing and managing A/B testing and dynamic email design
  • Creative experience with email and SMS as marketing platforms
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's mission and theory of change

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
