Progressive Kansas City Mayoral Campaign Hiring Field Organizers Now
About the Candidate:
Jolie Justus was elected to Kansas City's 4th Council District in 2015 after representing Missouri's 10th Senatorial District, where she served as Minority Leader. In Jefferson City, Jolie fought for Missouri's children & families, led and passed criminal justice reform, and made sure that Kansas City got its fair share of state resources. She is a progressive known for getting things done and, as the first openly LGBTQ member of the Missouri Senate, shepherded the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act out of the Republican-dominated State Senate. She's brought that collaborative approach to the City Council, where she's helping domestic violence survivors get a new lease on life, establishing safe routes to schools for our kids, supporting a $15-an-hour minimum wage, and leading the charge for Kansas City's new airport. After obtaining the most votes in the April Election, Jolie is advancing to the June 18th General Election.
As the top vote-getter on April 2nd, Jolie has the support in Kansas City to continue leading the momentum for Kansas City and spreading the success to all residents, not just a select few.
Job Description:
Field Organizers are key to the success of this campaign by carrying out a comprehensive field program in Kansas City to maximize turnout and improve performance for our candidate. Field Organizers autonomously build teams and motivate volunteers to register, call, and knock on the doors of voters to identify support and get out the vote for our candidate. The desired candidates for the position are enthusiastic, have organizing, political, retail, or team leadership experience, and a strong passion for electing progressive candidates.
Qualifications:
Commitment to electing a progressive, pro-choice candidate in the Heartland;
General understanding of political campaigns and desire to learn more;
Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple ongoing projects;
Comfortable with computer technology, experience using VoteBuilder a plus;
Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends on a regular basis;
A true self-starter who is a detail-oriented team player;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Access to reliable transportation required.
Duties:
Volunteer recruitment and team building;
Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers and interns to achieve goals;
Build a long lasting volunteer infrastructure in Kansas City by collaborating with community members to plan campaign events;
Meet daily reporting and data entry deadlines;
Perform other duties as assigned.
