About the Position:
The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a Youth Leadership and Organizing Coordinator to:
Work closely with CPD affiliates to deepen youth organizing practices, cultivate youth leadership, and advance youth issues in their campaign work and organizational culture;
Build the capacity of youth leaders and youth organizers through training, toolkits and resource creation, coaching and program development and;
Anchor a national community of youth leaders who gather online and offline for peer support, campaign development, and skills building;
Help launch an ambitious CPD Network plan to build a multiyear youth leadership pipeline that engages with high schoolers as they pursue higher education and then careers in social justice.
As a member of CPD's Base-building Team, the successful candidate will lead efforts to grow and strengthen the base-building, leadership development, and organizational capacity of our network and affiliates. The Youth Leadership and Organizing Coordinator will also work closely with several issue campaign teams at CPD (Education Justice, Immigrant Justice, etc…) to ensure youth voice, engagement, and programming in key aspects of our work.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Develop and lead training curriculum for large scale, network-led trainings as well as for site based affiliate support and refine a methodology for strong, youth-led base-building.
Support CPD affiliates in launching and/or building out emerging youth organizing programs and serve as the point person for a set of affiliates by connecting them to network resources and opportunities.
Partner with CPD Campaigns Teams, in particular Immigrant Rights, Education Justice, Voting Rights and Democracy, Politics and Racial Justice teams, to support impactful youth-focused campaigns and training program.
Design and build out a youth leadership pipeline.
Engage with the larger youth justice movement to build transformational and deeply collaborative partnerships.
Fundraise, with support and coaching from team members.
Job Requirements
At least 3 years experience in youth organizing, leadership development and supervising or developing organizers;
Commitment to leadership development, especially of those most impacted;
Willingness to travel to support affiliates in person, to engage in network events and to participate in learning, professional development, relationship building and/or fundraising;
Deep familiarity with working from an anti-oppression lens in pursuit of justice and radical inclusion;
Skill and experience in popular education, teaching and coaching that engages youth leaders
Vision, creativity, enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills
Salary and Benefits
In accordance with CPD/A's collective bargaining agreement, the salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. We have a generous benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 15 vacation days per year, 10 sick days per year, 12 paid holidays per year, and contribution to individuals' 401K plan.
