Background
Sarah Schulz is the Democratic challenger running against incumbent Annette Glenn for Michigan's 98th State House seat. Sarah ran in 2018 and narrowly lost with 48% of the vote closing the gap by 8 points compared to 2016 in this red district!
Her campaign is seeking a campaign manager to run the day-to-day operations of the 2020 campaign, partner with the candidate and other stakeholders to determine to design and implement the overarching campaign strategy, lead and participate in all canvassing efforts, and work with extreme efficiency, intelligent strategy, and tenacity to flip the seat and the MIchigan House in 2020. The stakes couldn't be higher and Sarah is willing to do whatever it takes to win and she will accept nothing short of that from her campaign manager.
Job Description
Work with the candidate and the core campaign team to write the campaign plan and develop media, fundraising and field targets.
Work with local, state and national party leaders, labor groups and community activists to secure endorsements, maximize fundraising opportunities, enlist campaign surrogates and build on the already very base of volunteers. This includes calendar management, support in responding to endorsement questionnaires, prepping the candidate for public debates, forums and press opportunities, drafting messages and speeches, and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
Oversee fundraising by planning event implementing tested as well as innovative fundraising strategies
Maintain the candidate and campaign schedules; enforce critical deadlines.
Manage social media and email program; draft press releases and plan press events; oversee letters to the editor program and listening events.
Run team meetings; oversee kitchen cabinet and delegate responsibilities accordingly.
Manage field strategy, staff (if applicable) and volunteer program, making calls and knocking doors as necessary.
Qualifications
The Campaign Manager should have at least one cycle of campaign organizing experience. Ideal candidates are former campaign managers with knowledge of and experience with appropriate strategies for red-to-blue districts, are exceptionally organized, personable, and able to think quickly and act independently. Experience working for democratic candidates in purple districts in Michigan a plus.
Schedule and Compensation
Start date is August 1st, 2019. This position is full time, requiring evenings and weekends. Pay is based on proven past experience and is market competitive.
