We work closely with policy leaders, citizen activists, businesses and other conservation/progressive nonprofits, and have built a reputation as one of the leading conservation advocacy organizations in the state. This coming year and beyond we will be engaging in critical work to elect pro-conservation candidates as well as educate the public and mobilizing the public to advocate for climate action, protection of Colorado's lands and rivers, and increase support for clean energy and transportation across the state.
Our work to protect and advocate for the environment reflects the organization's commitment to racial, social, and environmental justice. Engaging communities of color and other key constituencies for the environment is an organizational priority. Within the organization, we aim to create a workplace culture and policies and practices that demonstrate how we value equity and inclusion.

As Conservation Colorado has grown in size and stature, engaging Coloradans to take action online has become increasingly central to fulfilling our mission. This position will be primarily responsible for creating and implementing Conservation Colorado's digital strategy as well as building and managing our newly-created digital team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous digital strategy and management experience who wants to be a part of an innovative team that runs aggressive online fundraising and advocacy campaigns to promote environmental policies and win important elections.
This role can evolve over time, but the primary areas of responsibility are:
1. Develop and implement data-driven digital campaigns and strategies
● Create innovative and effective online advocacy and electoral campaigns; identify opportunities to engage and mobilize our activist base both online and offline.
● Work closely with our government affairs, organizing, communications, and political teams to achieve policy and electoral victories; act as a "digital consultant" to priority programmatic and electoral campaigns.
● Oversee our new CRM and its implementation, including overarching tracking of key metrics.
● Oversee deployment of organic and paid content on digital channels including our email, social media, web, and SMS programs; deploy sophisticated targeting and list segmentation strategies.
● Design and implement digital advertising strategies and tactics.
● Manage paid vendors.
● Work closely with the development team to execute online fundraising campaigns.
2. Build organizational power online
● Work with Conservation Colorado teams to identify and implement strategies aimed at the growth, cultivation, retention, diversification, and deepened engagement of our members, particularly in the digital sphere.
● Partner with the development team to build and diversify our membership and fundraising base and to achieve aggressive online fundraising goals.
● Direct social media strategy to grow our reach and mobilize targeted audiences.
● Manage Conservation Colorado's website, specifically in terms of maximizing engagement and tracking metrics.
● Manage data collection and analysis for the organization; oversee analytics, research, and testing.
● Grow partnerships with similar organizations; assist partners with digital tactics and strategy; support decisionmakers with their online goals.
3. Team management and leadership
● Manage a staff of 2-3 on the Digital Team.
● Liaise and partner with members of the executive and senior leadership teams on campaign strategy and development.
● Represent Conservation Colorado in high-level meetings with partners and decision-makers.
In addition to your regular responsibilities, all staff are expected to participate at some level in organizational priorities including helping in certain fundraising efforts, taking part in our election-related activities, and committing to our organizational efforts around diversity, equity & inclusivity.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this job, you will demonstrate the strategic thinking and problem solving ability it takes to work well with our team. Fundamentally, the Digital Director should be results-focused and a highly driven individual who understands how digital strategies can build our power to win on our issues.
More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:
● Digital strategy expertise, specifically 5-7 years of demonstrable success in online organizing, political campaigns, email advocacy, and/or fundraising.
● Familiarity with digital tools including managing social media for advocacy and acquisition purposes; CRM, CMS, and other online advocacy tools (Salesforce and HTML experience a major plus); relational voter programs; and other content marketing and distribution tools.
● Commitment to metrics and tracking progress, including a proven ability to implement data-driven strategies and sophisticated testing efforts.
● Experience managing and directing both projects and staff; desire and ability to build and grow a new team.
● Ability to determine problems and seek creative solutions to them.
● Exceptional written & spoken communication skills: the ability to present information in creative ways; the professionalism to act as a spokesperson for the organization in myriad situations.
● Fast-paced & detail oriented, ability to maintain grace under pressure and meet deadlines in an ever changing environment while maintaining 100% accuracy and a "no-balls-dropped" mentality.
● A desire to participate in politics and believe in the power of people to influence decision makers; experience with Colorado politics and/or environmental issues are a bonus.
● Share our commitment to increasing racial diversity in our movement and organization: possessing a willingness to do the personal and organizational work around diversity, equity, and inclusivity is vital.
Spanish/English bilingual is a skill we value, but it is not a requirement.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation depends on experience and is highly competitive. We provide high-quality, zero-deductible health insurance and a strong benefits package that includes a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with match, at least 28 days of paid time off in your first year, parental leave, and a sabbatical program. This job offers an opportunity to engage people to find solutions to some of the most important environmental issues in Colorado and work with a great team that is committed to a better, more equitable future. It will be challenging, inspiring, and sometimes frustrating, but you'll be making a big difference.
We are committed to building a more diverse and inclusive organization and conservation movement to fully represent and engage all Coloradans and to build as powerful a movement as we can.
