Pete for America is seeking a Deputy Leadership Development Director to build leadership capacity for organizing infrastructure across our national and state organizing program.

Our organizing program deeply believes all people have the capacity to organize and lead their communities within themselves. In this role, you will support on-ground leadership development through a first-of-its-kind program that teaches, trains, and equips people with the tools to organize their own communities. You will teach and train the five organizing leadership practices with both online and offline skills, tools, and tactics to launch and strengthen volunteer teams across the nation. You will be instrumental to building our national leadership development and organizing infrastructure.
This role requires travel 40-60% of your time.
What You'll Do:
- Adapt and deliver content to launch volunteer teams and trainings across marathon states, specifically across team structure, strategy, tactics and story
- Design organizing and leadership curricular resources and trainings for state and deputy state organizing directors in Early States and regional leadership development leads in Marathon States
- Develop content for a volunteer leadership curricula and training program
- Create learning experiences for volunteers, organizers, and regionals across online and offline platforms
- Deliver and develop trainings for organizers and state leads to launch leadership teams
- Integrate digital tactics and tools into volunteer team metrics and success
- Diagnose, identify, and track team development stages across volunteer teams and create content and training on how to do so
- Design interventions and trainings on how to maximize team learning and performance
- Manage, coach, and train Leaderships Developments Directors and Managers across regions to build trainings as needed for regional organizing managers, organizers, and state leads
- Recruit, staff, and manage a one-of-a-kind expert leadership development fellowship
What you'll bring:
- A belief that story, relationships, structure, strategy, and action and tactics are key organizing practices
- An understanding of digital as a tactic & essential to integrate into organizing in 2019
- An ability to use data as a smoke signal to indicate where support may be needed
- A drive towards metrics to increase volunteer individual and team capabilities
- The ability to coach those around you to unleash the potential within them
- Excitement for the prospect of building differentiated learning experiences
- A belief that volunteers are leaders, and that continuous learning and responsibility is the key to unlocking voter and volunteer potential
- An understanding that adult development and team development is the core of building high-functioning teams, volunteer development and voter outreach and organizing
- Comfort training regional organizers, organizing directors, and organizers, and differentiating learning, delivery, and content across all three levels
