The finance director is responsible for raising the money that will allow the campaign to accomplish its
goals. The finance director works closely with the candidate, campaign manager and a finance committee to
meet the financial goals of the campaign. They are in charge of keeping the candidate on track with
fundraising, preparing for and staffing call time, and overseeing all fundraising events. A good fundraiser
must be highly organized, outgoing and willing to push the candidate and campaign toward meeting their
fundraising goals.
Responsibilities:
Finance Directors will lead the candidates' fundraising and development goals that include, but are not limited to:
● Manage and execute strategic finance plan which includes events, candidate call time, low dollar online solicitations and direct mail
● Manage candidate call time and other activities (including fundraising events) to hit raise targets and deadlines
● Execute and manage donor research and expand candidate's new donor networks
● Supervise work of staff, interns and volunteers
● Manage follow up on all correspondence and pledges
● Work closely with compliance staff
Qualifications:
● 1+ cycles of campaign finance experience
● Must have event planning experience
● Experience managing staff preferred
● Knowledge of NGP and Excel
● Must have strong written and communication skills
● Working knowledge of local campaign finance law or willing to learn
● Donor prospecting and research experience preferred
● Prior experience with targeting contributors and follow up management
● Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
● Time management skills are a must
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Salary based on experience and the position is based in Loudoun County, VA. This job will require access to a car. Must be willing to travel extensively with candidate locally. Start date immediately.
