Loraine Lundquist for LA City Council is seeking candidates for our Paid Canvassing team. The race is in a highly competitive, last Republican-held council district seat (District 12) in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. Dr. Lundquist is a scientist, a sustainability professor at CSUN, and a mom who has been fighting for her community and the future of her children for over a decade. Canvassers will be the face of the campaign in communities across the district and will be responsible for executing our voter contact programs. We're looking to develop a team of committed, reliable people who want to work on our high-energy, growing team.
Time commitment: Part Time, up to 30 hours/week
Pay: $16/hr
Description
Your responsibilities would include speaking to voters in a targeted door-to-door operation to spread the word about the August 13th special election for LA City Council District 12 and about Loraine Lundquist. For this job we are expecting candidates who are able to commit to a schedule until the election, with flexibility in switching shifts and days. This is an incredible opportunity to make real change happen in our community, and for those who are interested and as appropriate, letters of recommendation and references!
Skills and Qualifications
Have a smartphone and a car (recommended not required)
Able to walk around for hours at a time
Public speaking skills; a willingness to learn script and adapt quickly
A good attitude
Happy to talk to people they don't know
A love for the community and positive change
