Position Title: New England Leadership and Development Fellow

Reports To: New England Regional Director 

Start Date: Immediately

Location: Boston, MA 

Hours per week: 20 

Compensation: $15/hr 


Position

Do you want to work at the intersection of politics, Middle East policy, the Jewish community and fundraising? Are you interested in joining a rapidly expanding organization that is changing the way people think and talk about Israel and U.S. Middle East policy?


J Street is seeking a New England Leadership and Development Fellow. They should be a highly organized self-starter who thrives on hitting ambitious goals to help J Street expand its political and communal footprint in New England.


The Fellow will be a key partner in executing a plan that grows the organization's leadership ranks, raises operating and political funds and advances the pro-Israel, pro-peace, diplomacy-first agenda in the American policy and Jewish communal arenas. 


This position is based in our New England office in Boston's seaport district, just a 10-minute walk from South Station. The Fellow will be an integral part of our five-person New England team, which is committed to excellent communication, close teamwork, and investing in every member to grow to their full potential and deeply enjoy their role. As with all J Street positions, success in this role can provide an opportunity to grow within the organization. 

 

Responsibilities can include


General systems support:

  • Maintain regional data so it is accurate, current and stored appropriately.

  • Prepare briefing materials for meetings and events.

  • Assist with event recruitment, preparation, and management.


Development

  • Research and identify new donor prospects at the $1,000 level and greater.

  • Help draft donor communications.


Political

  • Help implement political fundraisers for JStreetPAC-endorsed candidates.

  • Help organize meetings between J Street leaders and candidates running for Congress. 


Advocacy

  • Help organize in-district meetings between J Street leaders and local members of Congress.

  • Play a supporting role in building and maintaining a strong political advocacy
    structure in the region to effectively advocate on issues relating to Israel and the Middle East;

 

Community Relations

  • Support communication with rabbis and synagogues, providing them with J Street resources;

  • Support community events in regional synagogues.


Required Skills and Characteristics

  • A strong commitment to J Street's pro-Israel, pro-peace, diplomacy-first mission.

  • Highly organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work independently as well as in a team;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite; experience with database management and Excel a plus; 

  • Eager to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

  • A positive attitude
