Title: Political Manager (full-time, exempt)
Organization: Giffords: Courage to Fight Gun Violence

Reports to: Political Director

Location: Washington, DC

 

The Political Manager is an integral part of Giffords' political team, working across several projects as well as overseeing some work of their own. The successful candidate for this role thrives in a fast-paced environment, thinks two steps ahead, and brings good humor to their work.

Position requires ability and interest in occasional travel and evening events.

Duties + Responsibilities:

  • Manage candidate endorsement process, including outreach to campaigns, cataloguing and analyzing questionnaires, and assisting with candidate services
  • Manage relationships with designated portfolio of campaigns and allied organizations to strengthen partnerships, communicate Giffords' priorities, and identify opportunities for involvement in coordinated communications or events
  • Oversee political team intern program
  • Manage the day to day of Giffords' PAC including tracking, compliance and budget
  • Conduct research to support political communications, including TV, radio, and digital ads, direct mail, and other online communication (social media, website, etc.)
  • Assist Political Director with production of materials for meetings and presentations
  • Schedule meetings and calls related to Giffords PAC's political program
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Skills + Experience:

  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to be flexible
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Self-starter, willing to take initiative as needed
  • Experience staffing candidates or high-profile principals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor and ability to work well on a team
