About the DCCC: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, research support and management consulting. In addition, the DCCC's Independent Expenditure supports these campaigns with television, radio and other voter contact efforts. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. We look for talented and hardworking campaign professionals who are committed to fortifying and expanding our new Democratic House majority.


Position Summary: The DCCC is currently seeking an experienced, strategic communicator to be a Deputy National Press Secretary and AAPI Media Advisor for the 2020 election cycle. This position is responsible for handling the Committee's national and local AAPI media, managing those relationships, identifying surrogate opportunities and providing strategic and tactical support to the DCCC's Regional Press Secretaries to build press plans involving local AAPI media in targeted Congressional districts. The AAPI Media Advisor will also work with our Cycle of Engagement team to create programs to engage voters and increase voter participation in key communities. In addition, the Deputy will provide support to our National Press Secretary on national media needs.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing strategic support to Regional Press Secretaries in their work to engage constituency media as part of media plans in targeted Congressional campaigns;
  • Coordinating with field, digital, and political teams to implement a grassroots training program, increase voter registration, and ensure voter protection;
  • Working with targeted Congressional campaigns to build surrogate plans that advance their strategic goals
  • Preparing DCCC leadership and surrogates for interviews;
  • Outreach to reporters in national and local constituency media outlets to promote programs and goals of the DCCC; 
  • Monitoring news from media outlets, write press releases, prepare talking points and;
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of communications experience, including on-the-record experience, ideally with campaign, Capitol Hill, or issue advocacy experience; 
  • Familiarity with constituency media landscape is a must, and existing relationships with reporters is strongly preferred;
  • Korean fluency is strongly preferred;
  • Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities;
  • Passionate about making sure Democrats across the house battlefield have the tools, resources, and support they need to run effective campaigns
