LN Consulting is a boutique consulting firm that specializes in political, campaign and nonprofit consulting. We are a lean and powerful team of skilled professionals committed to engaging and including the voices of Black, Indigenous and communities of color (BICoC) in key political races, policy, and issues that impact their quality of life. We believe culturally responsive communications and programs are critical to successfully educate and empower Black, Indigenous and communities of color (BICoC) on the importance of their political participation and vote.
About Our Campaign
Our goal is to help lift and educate California residents in Hard-to-Count (HTC) communities around the census and redistricting processes. This includes:
Providing public education content to ensure Hard-to-Count (HTC) communities are informed and engaged in the census and redistricting process on various online platforms.
Providing political education to help Hard-to-Count (HTC) communities connect the dots between the 2020 Census, Redistricting, and quality-of-life issues disproportionately impacting African-American families.
Who You Are
The right candidate is someone who loves to create and distribute strong written content on various online platforms including email, text, social media, and web platforms. They understand the power and importance of creating culturally responsive content to engage and empower (BICoC) on social media and online platforms. They are passionate, responsive, and eager to communicate with our online audience. And of course they are a creative and analytical thinker: they like to come up with headlines & strong narratives, but can also crunch numbers and nerd out over metrics. They must love collaborating with other people, but also know how to manage your their time and projects. They are a fast learner, coachable and have a strong work ethic.
Day to Day Responsibilities of The Digital Campaigner:
Stay up to date on current events related to the 2020 Census, CA Redistricting process, and partner activities related to the campaign.
Help draft campaign content, including blog posts, email and social media content that you will send to supporters.
Maintain our social media channels, posting fresh and snappy content about the 2020 Census, CA Redistricting process, and partner activities related to the campaign.
Launch and manage SMS text campaigns.
Work on campaign execution, including setting up email blasts, petition pages, and monitoring metrics.
Own the editorial calendar for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms, ensuring content is timely, on message, and supports statewide activities.
Work collaboratively with the creative team to help guide development of visual assets.
Execute A/B testing plans to optimize campaigns and inspire more people to deepen their engagement with the movement
Report on performance across our major channels, including which messages work with which audiences
Work with the Communications Director to help set, achieve, measure, and report on benchmarks.
Skills & Experience
Be a team player that works well with others
Ability to learn new skills quickly
High level of organization, including experience coordinating multiple digital channels at once
Excellent writing and communication skills; spelling and grammar snobs are encouraged to apply
Demonstrated experience managing social media properties for a nonprofit, business, political candidate, or similar—or experience creating social media content that pops and engages a large audience
Understanding of Facebook Page Manager, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Business Manager, and other social media tools
Some experience with online organizing or relevant platforms, such as:
Online campaigning/organizing
Action Network or Every Action
Facebook, Twitter, email tools, WordPress, or similar
Background in political advocacy, organizing, digital activism, public policy, or related field
Rapid response email and social media campaigning
Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines, and stay organized to get a campaign out the door
Experience managing projects from concept through execution (preferred)
Technical skills, including knowledge of HTML, CSS, etc. (preferred)
Understanding of Google Analytics (bonus)
The Details
We are looking to build a long term relationship with the right candidate. The Digital Campaigner is a virtual 1099 independent contractor position, preferred to be CA-based, but not required. This is a one year campaign with the potential for a long term contract opportunity or full-time employment for the right individual. Hours are flexible and consistent — we can work with your schedule to identify which hours make the most sense. The project will be top-heavy and at peak in Q1-Q2 2020. Contractor should expect to be available approximately 10-15 hours per week and up to 20 hours during the campaign peak.
