Management: This position does not oversee or manage staff
Projects Include:
Educate, engage and mobilize residents in key Colorado communities on the issue of neighborhood fracking
Support local leaders in developing the tools necessary to build powerful and long-lasting movements in their communities
Recruit, train and mobilize volunteers
Plan, facilitate and run leadership training workshops for community leaders, volunteers and coalition partners as necessary
Build, maintain and activate coalitions with diverse stakeholders
Educate and engage decision makers and elected officials on the issue of neighborhood fracking and what they can do to protect their communities
Collaborate with team members to develop, plan and execute community education and engagement events
Identify opportunities for new funding sources
Work with team members to develop and execute strategic plans; attend regularly scheduled meetings and provide frequent updates on work-related tasks to ensure goals and expectations are met
To support the mission of Colorado Rising, assist in its activities, and to raise awareness of the organization and goals
Perform other project in support of CO Rising's mission as forwarded by the Deputy Director
Requirements
Must be a Colorado resident
Understanding of and passion for Colorado Rising's mission, values and goals
Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout assigned region
Comfortable receiving and providing honest feedback
Experience in community organizing and community leadership development
Experience and understanding around the issue of fracking
Commitment to environmental and social justice issues
Strong organizational skills and ability to work both in teams and complete projects in a timely fashion
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Including the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
Proficient in both MAC/Apple software and Windows software, in particular Pages, Excel, Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
Desired Qualifications
Resident of community that is impacted or threatened by fracking
Experience in neighborhood organizing work, either as a volunteer or in paid positions
Experience in facilitating meetings, trainings and focus groups
Verbal and written Spanish language skills
Employment Status
Independent contractor position with assigned projects. This is a 6-month contract. Potential to re-new contract at the end of term may be possible, but is not guaranteed.
Compensation
$3,000-$3,5000/month depending upon level of experience.
