Fundraising & Development Intern
Job Description
TextOut is seeking interns to join our team. These are remote positions that can be based anywhere in the continental U.S. Part-time and full-time openings are both available. Pay is dependent on experience. No benefits.
About You
You are 18 or older and have a passion for listening and connecting with voters across the political spectrum, even those who might not agree with you.
You may or may not be in school, pursuing a degree, or have a degree. It's not required.
You have access to a reliable desktop or laptop computer. (Our system doesn't work on a smartphone!)
You can commit no less than 40 hours per week to saving democracy for a full-time internship, and no less than 20 hours per week for a part-time internship.
You want to build connections with other like-minded progressives around the US.
You adapt well to new technology and are a self-starter willing to teach yourself new software platforms.
You're into the idea of working and communicating remotely with your teammates using programs like Slack for chat and Asana for project management.
You can work independently and are a natural problem solver but are also comfortable asking questions when you get stuck.
You are determined; you don't stop until you get the information you need until your voter's questions are answered, or until your volunteers have what they need to do their best work.
You believe in the power of conversation and connection to change hearts and minds.
Key responsibilities will be to support the founders and key staff of Open Progress by conducting prospect research; creating donor/prospect profiles and conducting demonstrations of Messaging Lab in TextOut. In addition, the intern may also have opportunities to draft communications to prospects, support proposal development and compile reports. These duties will provide an opportunity for the intern to gain experience in, and familiarity with, areas such as fundraising, development, philanthropy, technology, advocacy, and the day-to-day operations of a startup organization with a national reach. This position will report to the Partnerships & Community Outreach Ambassador.

All profits from TextOut go back to fund non-profit missions at Open Progress and its other non-profit partners, making it the only progressive technology platform in the space that exists to not only drive change but to fund it, too.
