Role: Director of Development

Salary: $80K - $130K
The Development Director will be an integral partner to the CEO and Board in setting the organization's development strategy and executing on large pieces of it. While responsible for the design of the entire cycle strategy, this individual will run the fundraising efforts for mid-tier donors. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinker with successful experience in fundraising and donor outreach, as well as donor data reporting. This is a unique opportunity to work at the center of technology and politics and bring those two worlds together in a healthy manner.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop a comprehensive cycle strategy to discover, cultivate, solicit, steward individual donors to increase donors at 3 levels: large, mid and small-dollar donors
- Be responsible for development, growth and execution of development program at the Leadership Board (mid-tier level)
- Support TFC's portfolio of existing donor relationships, providing the structures, insights and recommended strategies so that the CEO and Board is set up to engage with the overall fundraising strategy and individual donors at the optimum level. This will include coordinating and participating in visits between the CEO and major donors and prospects.
- Create and update donor materials and oversee communications to prospective and current donors.
- Ensure activation of the existing board, working closely with board members to help drive their individual fundraising activities
- Supervise fundraising events, including play books for board members to easily host events
- Report out to the full board on fundraising strategic plans and overall progress to goal on a regular basis
WHO YOU ARE
- 5-7 Years of experience fundraising, cultivating donor relationships and proven track record of individually leading significant fundraising efforts (especially individual donors)
- Passion for TFC's mission - belief in technology and digital playing a major role in elections
- Experience conceiving of and then executing new programs from scratch
- An executive presence marked by discretion, good judgment, good humor, and a polished, personable demeanor with an ability to work well as a member of a team and with individuals at all levels throughout the organization.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with very strong time management skills
- Obsessive about metrics and reporting

This is a full-time role with most of the team in San Francisco. Significant time on site in San Francisco expected.
