BLC Texas Fellowship: Job Description
Blue Leadership Collaborative (BLC) is expanding our program designed to retain top Democratic talent. BLC provides paid professional development and advanced learning to fellows committed to working as a campaign manager in Texas this cycle.
The BLC's full-time, paid fellowship program has four main components:
Trainings on campaign foundations
Apprenticeship placement project
Mentorship
Community
Training for Fellows will emphasize campaign skills in finance, communications, digital strategy, field, data analytics, and management. Fellows will attend trainings both in-person and via webinar led by experts in their respective fields. Fellows will have a dedicated Team Leader who will work with him/her to create individualized professional development goals. Fellows will learn through an apprenticeship placement at a BLC partner organization designed to reinforce hard and soft skills learning. Finally, BLC will connect Fellows with mentors and future opportunities through our Advisory Board partners and professionals with a wide range of experiences. Fellows will learn alongside peers in their cohort, providing an opportunity to build a lifelong network of people to trade career guidance and campaign insights.
Expectations include:
Ties to and passion for politics in Texas
Full-time and enthusiastic commitment to the Fellowship program
Participation in all required trainings, and completion of all deliverables, 1:1 meetings with Team Leader, and other Fellowship opportunities
Proven ability to think strategically
Embraces the challenges of personal and professional development
Eager for feedback and growth
Strong candidates may have the following:
Experience on a political campaign
Leading a small team outside of a political campaign
Experience as a field organizer or finance team member
At least one GOTV experience
Passion for learning and working hard
Development of leadership skills
Demonstrated experience in project management, organization, problem-solving
Ability to manage, work within a team, and bring people together toward a common goal
Many skills, broad knowledge, and not expertise in one skill - yet!
Candidates will need to be willing to reside in Texas (Austin, possibly Dallas or Fort Worth, Houston, depending on apprenticeship location) for the duration of the program so that they can commute daily to their apprenticeship or training location. The optimal candidate would already have a history and past perspective on Texas politics. All candidates should be willing to stay and work in Texas after the program ends. This program will require some travel for group learning exercises and potential placement. This is a full-time commitment. Compensation is $4,000/monthly for the duration of the program, with the option to enroll in company-provided medical, dental, and vision benefits for the duration of the program.

About Blue Leadership Collaborative
The Blue Leadership Collaborative's mission is to win campaigns by empowering and retaining future leaders who are committed to excellence as managers, strategists, and humans. We provide professional development and leadership training to high-potential campaign managers, with an emphasis on women and people of color, to foster talent that better reflects our democracy. In the Spring of 2019, we launched a full-time, three-month, paid pilot program with 20 inaugural fellows who were committed to working as campaign managers during the election cycle.
