[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] HIRING: Toxics Action Center Community Organizers in MA and CT

Toxics Action Center is hiring Community Organizers for Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Toxics Action Center is a public health and environmental non-profit that organizes with communities on the frontlines of environmental and public health threats. As the 9-1-1 of the environmental movement, we work side-by-side with local leaders to build strong groups and run grassroots campaigns to tackle environmental threats and bring neighbors together to achieve proactive and positive change for their communities. Through our work, we identify and train a new generation of civic leaders to strengthen the environmental and social change movements and build our democracy.

Toxics Action Center team members are hard-working, strategic, skilled trainers and community organizers who are committed to movement building and environmental, racial and economic justice. Being an organizer with Toxics Action Center is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team, who are training and supporting each other in our work to create the healthy environment and the just world we believe in. You'll have the opportunity to dive deep into community organizing, while also engaging in media work and communications, and strengthening your fundraising skills. Over the years, our model offers ample opportunities to move into new roles as staff and state director, and as a small team, we welcome your ideas in our group decision-making about the organization's vision and daily operations.

Community Organizers work with community groups to fight pollution threats in their neighborhoods, providing ongoing leadership development coaching to local grassroots leaders, working in statewide and/or regional coalitions, and fundraising for the organization. Candidates must have at least one year of related work experience, such as community organizing, campaign coordination, environmental advocacy, or coalition building, and candidates with four or more years of experience can be hired at the state director level.
