Voter Registration Technology Training Coordinator Job Description


Voices Vote Now (VVN) provides data and analytics consulting services for progressive organizations. This position will provide technical support for voter registration programs across the State Voices network and other organizations.


Position

 

VVN seeks a candidate with an interest in providing high quality user-focused training for program-related technology. The VR Technology Training Coordinator will be responsible for leading in-person trainings and remote webinars on program-related technology including voter registration tracking software, mapping software, and Adobe Acrobat. This individual will play a central role in ensuring that field practitioners have a strong grasp of how to use program-related technology to drive high quality voter registration programs. VVN will provide training to develop new skills. We seek to hire for this position immediately, and are looking for a candidate who is interested in staying in this role through the 2020 election cycle. This position is based in Washington, DC.


The VR Tech Training Coordinator will:


  • Facilitate in-person trainings and remote webinars on program-related technology
  • Develop new training content as needed and update existing content to fit regional needs in collaboration with organizational partners

  • Travel up to 25% of the time to provide in-person trainings and technical support

  • Support software development processes for voter registration tracking software by collecting and organizing training participant feedback

  • Evaluate user support systems and redesign as needed

  • Facilitate training for trainers to expand capacity for user support

  • Train partner staff to take on technology administrator roles

  • Work collaboratively with a diverse set of stakeholders including partner staff, field practitioners, and technology professionals

 Desired qualities for the VR Tech Training Coordinator:

 

  • Strong experience designing, assisting with, or running trainings (especially technical trainings)

  • Strong working knowledge of how to run inclusive, accessible training spaces

  • Experience using technology to manage field organizers on a campaign

  • Goal-oriented, collaborative approach to problem solving

  • Be willing to travel as needed, sometimes on short notice

  • Ability to be a collaborative participant as part of a multiracial and intergenerational team that includes stakeholders with non-technical backgrounds

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to organize complex ideas for others to understand

  • Committed to contributing to an inclusive and equitable work environment across race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age and class

Preferred but not required:

  • Familiarity with SQL a plus

  • Any level of experience with mapping software

  • Desire to grow into a data and technology career that includes user support, user experience (UX) design, or product management

  • Spanish proficiency a plus, including ability to translate written content and lead trainings in Spanish

  • Knowledge of both national and state structures of the progressive infrastructure and coalition partners

  • Experience working with high-volume voter registration drives, especially in communities of color

  • Previous experience working with VAN, Catalist, Blocks or other individual-level data platforms used to target and implement civic engagement programs

  • Experience managing relationships with organizational partners and vendors
