DESCRIPTION

 

City Council campaign in a competitive Democratic primary challenging a corrupt incumbent in Washington, DC seeks an Organizing Director/Senior Organizer with prior campaign experience. The primary is on June 2, 2020. The Organizing Director/Senior Organizer will work closely with the candidate and the senior campaign team and will frequently represent the campaign with voters, volunteers, and other local stakeholders and activists. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·      Meeting voter contact and capacity-building goals, including developing systems and strategies to achieve weekly, and monthly organizing metrics.

·      Organizing – and identifying, developing, and managing volunteer leaders to organize – house parties, canvasses, phone banks, voter registration efforts, and other events designed to recruit and engage volunteers and identify, persuade, and mobilize voters.

·      Coordinating with community leaders, allied organizations, and other local stakeholders and activists.

·      Working with the candidate and senior campaign team to develop, implement, and track communications, engagement, and outreach strategies.

·      Adhering to deadlines and maintaining effective communication with the candidate and senior campaign team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·      At least one cycle of field/organizing experience (in the DC/MD/VA area preferred but not required).

·      Strong commitment to progressive politics and values, including diversity, inclusion, and integrity.  

·      Ability to adapt in a fast paced, changing work environment, meet tight deadlines, and multitask.

·      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·      Enthusiasm for building meaningful relationships in the community.

·      Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

·      Experience with or willingness to learn campaign IT tools (e.g. VAN).
