We are excited to be working with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin on a campaign to organize communities throughout Wisconsin to defend reproductive healthcare, fight to keep open Planned Parenthood clinics, win state-level elections, and defeat Trump in 2020.
General Overview: The Campaign Organizer will hit the ground nearly one year before the 2020 elections to develop grassroots and grasstops community relationships, recruit and train dozens of volunteers committed to defending reproductive freedom, train leaders on the campaign, and show up and be a good ally to partner organizations throughout the process. In summer of 2020, the organizer will leverage her relationships and steer her volunteer machine to launch a voter identification and Get Out The Vote operation through Election Day 2020. Finally, the organizer will debrief and re-activate everyone involved in the effort to leave the volunteers ready to tackle attacks on reproductive healthcare well into the 2020's.
Location: We are hiring organizers in Green Bay, WI, Milwaukee, WI, and Madison, WI. We prefer candidates who are local or who have strong ties to these cities, but we are happy to help with relocation costs for the right candidate.
Duration: This is a 13-month position starting in November of 2019 and ending in December of 2020.
Responsibilities:
Recruit and train hundreds of volunteer activists
Call Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin supporters and recruit them to grassroots actions
Identify new volunteers by gathering petitions and making announcements in public
Run grassroots skills trainings to develop effective campaigners among volunteers
Keep meticulous track of a volunteer list so that no potential fighter falls through the cracks
Volunteer leadership development
Host and help to run monthly campaign meetings to develop a community of leaders
Pitch and train volunteers to take on leadership responsibilities
Identify and train a volunteer campaign leader to lead the group into the 2020s
Run an independent expenditure voter identification and Get Out The Vote operation
Recruit and train hundreds of canvassers and phone bankers for daily shifts
Nail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers do the same
Manage digital organizing tools
Take excellent photos at all events for social sharing
Manage multiple campaign pages
Use campaign tools like VAN, peer-to-peer texting services, and relational organizing tools
Take online tools and use them to work with volunteers on the ground, in-person
Qualifications:
2-3 years experience in field and volunteer organizing, ideally with a mix of electoral and issue organizing
Passion for reproductive freedom and for fighting for Planned Parenthood
Self-starter and excellent problem-solving skills
Experience using VAN, peer-to-peer texting services, and managing social media pages
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Salary
The annual salary range for this position is $46,800-$50,700. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, health insurance, and classroom-style training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement.
