[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] Communications & Marketing Director (location flexible)

Communications & Marketing Director

Background: Road crashes are expected to rise to the 7th leading cause of death worldwide by the year 2030. Collisions on the world's roads involving drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are rapidly becoming one of this generation's most pressing global health and development crises, posing grave consequences for life and for economies.

A leading global NGO that supports Vision Zero and similar ambitious road safety programs seeks a Communications and Marketing Director to help advance our work, engage our partners and grow our network.

This job opening is an exciting opportunity for someone to guide the communications strategy and messaging of a fast-growing organization. We're looking for someone who can plan and direct an annual communications plan, draft and publish its content and everything in between.

The ideal candidate is at home working with corporate communications, mayors' offices and journalists.

Role: The Communications and Marketing Director will grow awareness about our work and our partners. The position's high-level goals are to recruit new partners and retain existing ones. This means recognizing our current partners and promoting our collective work. The director will also work to engage our partners and work with other staff to encourage member participation in our work.

It is important that the Communications and Marketing Director bring a business-to-business lens to the work and build relationships with partners' corporate communications staff and corporate social responsibility divisions. The Communications and Marketing Director will report to the organization's President.

Duties: The Communications and Marketing Director will manage our owned and earned communications. This means producing and publishing our monthly newsletter and annual report, coordinating teleconferences, publishing website updates and coordinating with our partners on content. It also includes publishing press releases and working with reporters and our staff to garner coverage. The director will use social media to amplify all of this. They are also responsible for managing our email list and other digital assets: website platform, social media accounts, email list management platform, etc.

The position will also oversee the production of our annual meeting. The annual meeting is our most important opportunity to engage partners and recruit new ones. We use the event to brief our partners on our work, recognize the collaborations that make it happen and get feedback on it.

In addition to our annual meeting, the director will manage our participation in other events and conferences. They will secure speaking and sponsorship opportunities for the organization.

They will also work with our partners' communications staff to secure speaking opportunities at their events and others where they participate.

The Director will manage a budget to hire consultants as needed (e.g. graphic designers, writers and event staff) and to support our participation in conferences and other events.
