COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Communications Director, 2020 US Senate Race
Position Summary:
The Communications Director will oversee the communications team and be responsible in crafting communications messaging strategies, managing rapid response and serving as a spokesperson with reporters.
Principal Responsibilities
Lead the communications team to develop long-term and short-term communications messaging strategies.
Advise leadership on rapid response and help craft responses in a timely manner.
Oversee and draft talking points, speeches, op-eds, press releases and assist with media training of the candidate.
Organize an aggressive plan to pitch stories to reporters.
Serve as campaign spokesperson when needed.
Qualifications
Experience in a rapid response media environment;
At least two cycles of campaign experience is strongly preferred;
On-the-record experience with both national and local press;
Strong writing skills;
Experienced manager of people and processes;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
Determined team-player with ready sense of humor and a demonstrated willingness to work hard and take risks.
