Field Manager

For over a century, the National Council of Jewish Women, Inc. (NCJW) has been at the forefront of social change, championing the needs of women, children, and families and working to safeguard individual rights and freedoms. NCJW seeks a full-time Field Manager in its Engagement and Leadership Department.

Position Summary

NCJW's Engagement and Leadership (E&L) Department mobilizes NCJW advocates, trains a pipeline of leaders, and serves as a key resource to our local affiliates, which are called sections.

The Field Manager will work with the Director in overseeing the coordination and implementation of section relations programs and activities and will serve as an active community liaison between NCJW National, section, and advocates. This role will further NCJW, Inc.'s strategic goals of recruitment, engagement, and retention; section alignment; and leadership development, and provide resources and trainings to support sections and advocates across the network. This position is responsible for maintaining relations with section leadership and administrators, managing compliance, collecting section data and documents, and monitoring section communications.

The Field Manager reports to the Director of Engagement & Leadership and works closely with the entire E&L team and with staff in the Finance, Communications, and Government Relations areas. This position will supervise the Section Services Associate.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact to NCJW's network of sections, providing capacity-building support and training to section leaders on leadership development, section operations, and membership recruitment and retention
  • Provide support, guidance, and oversight to NCJW's network of sections
  • Supervise Section Services Associate
  • Assess the overall health and viability of sections and assist in identifying, creating, planning, and developing new section resources and services in partnership with volunteers and staff
  • Oversee the Section Visitors Program, which coordinates travel to sections by staff and leadership volunteers
  • Develop curriculum and provide training on board development, board governance, section alignment, and good governance
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Section Advisory Council, a team of field leaders focused on ensuring strategic alignment between the sections and national, including the implementation of the healthy section diagnostic
  • Create and manage an online repository of resources, model practices, etc., for access by sections
  • Develop and maintain systems for accurate tracking of section documents, such as Charters, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation
  • Collaborate with Database Manager to maintain and streamline the system and process used for annual collection and reporting of relevant and necessary membership and section data to best support sections
  • Work closely with the communications department to develop section support materials including marketing collateral, email blasts, message documents, talking points, and fact sheets that reflect NCJW's core messages and overall brand positioning
  • Play a lead role in network recruitment for national conferences and events
  • Work with other staff members on interdepartmental projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned


Education and Qualifications

  • Genuine passion for and understanding of the mission of NCJW, including an ability to apply an anti-oppression and/or justice lens to the work
  • Bachelor's degree recommended, demonstrated experience membership engagement and leadership development
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a non-profit environment, particularly in section/chapter/affiliate relations, organizing, and engagement
  • Strong writing and editing skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the organization, with volunteers, members and other key constituents
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills: ability to prioritize projects, plan for and meet deadlines, handle several projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to create and deliver polished, well-designed reports and materials
  • Experience coordinating volunteers and staff to successfully meet and exceed goals
  • Sound judgment and keen problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of EveryAction or similar CMS software is preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%


Salary & Benefits

The annual salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance and a generous vacation and holiday schedule.
