JOB TITLE: Compliance/Accounting Associate

Location: This position will be located in either Washington DC or Long Beach CA

Salary: $45k to $60k per year. The lower range would include individuals who have one cycle of compliance or accounting experience and the higher would include either two cycles or one cycle plus a degree in HR, Accounting or Finance.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Compliance and Accounting Associate to join our team and help support clients with their compliance and our firm with accounting and bookkeeping. This person will play an integral role in our operation, working with organizational leadership and outside clients. The ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of FEC rules, be a detail-oriented self-started with strong communications and organizational skills.


Internal Accounting, Auditing, Tracking 

Estimated percentage of time: 35%


The Accounting Associate will process and pay bills, make deposits into the bank, organize financial records, prepare documents for CPA, manage payroll process, send invoices, track billable expenses and coordinate reimbursement program for employees in lieu with internal policies and contract policies. 


Client Compliance Support

Estimated percentage of time: 40%


The Compliance Associate will process contributions to deposit into the bank, organize financial records, help fulfill reporting requirements for State or FEC, process incoming mail for multiple accounts, help reconciling accounts with bank statements and other records, and enter data in NGP on a daily basis among other tasks. 


HR Support

Estimated percentage of time: 15%


The Compliance Associate will process contributions to deposit into the bank, organize financial records, help fulfill reporting requirements for State or FEC, process incoming mail for multiple accounts, help reconciling accounts with bank statements and other records, and enter data in NGP on a daily basis among other tasks. 


Assists with full-cycle HR duties, including recruitment, onboarding, reviews, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance reports, and exit interviews. Uses discretion to address concerns, and provides suggestions and feedback to senior leadership. Maintains payroll, benefits information, assisting with open enrollment, answering benefits questions, and escalating as needed. Serve as main point of contact to staff for HR-related questions.


Skills Development

Estimated percentage of time: 10%

  • Looking for skill development opportunity, chances to be on the ground with the client and overall professional development

  • Ensuring understanding of strategic data-driven decisions on where to invest resources, capacity and strategic programs to help ensure clients are meeting goals

  • Identify and capitalize on external opportunities to drive thought leadership


Expectations

You must have excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, demonstrated experience with QuickBooks, NGP, Google suite, Excel and EveryAction and constant desire to do more, perfect the craft and manage up when something is needed.


You have served one or multiple election cycles working in compliance. You have a demonstrated ability to think ahead, a commitment to data-driven solutions and an entrepreneurial spirit that consistently looks for novel ways to approach problems.
