Digital Organizer & Content Creator Job Description

The Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to amplify the power of immigrant communities to impact the root causes of inequality, defending and protecting basic human rights, including the right to live without fear.

Position Summary: Digital Organizer & Content Creator

The Digital Organizer & Content Creator is responsible for the development of creative content, including graphics and videos, and the development and implementation of online organizing programs leading to offline organizing and community activation. This position will work online and offline organizing digital campaigns targeting community members to build momentum for FLIC's campaigns and programs. The position involves working closely with the communications team to help create print and digital collateral, develop paid and organic social media strategies, draft member communications, and work with program leads and organizers to identify and test methods to generate activism among members and allies to the organization.

This is a fast-paced, self-driven position that requires a blend of interpersonal skills, creativity & flexibility, familiarity working with various tech platforms, and a willingness to complete different tasks every day. This role includes the typical responsibilities of an organizer, such as cultivating relationships, tracking metrics, and managing data, as well as communications functions like creating graphics, planning social media content, and developing and launching digital campaigns that grow our community and increase engagement.

Detail of Responsibilities

Digital Communications and Organizing

  • Organize, develop, and coordinate online social media outreach, web-based advocacy, and online to offline integration of members and supporters interested in campaigns

  • Develop social media calendars, social media toolkits, and vehicles for communication among organization and individual members which promote FLIC campaigns

  • Develop and implement paid social media advertising strategies

  • Assist in the identification and development of strategies aimed at building and retaining membership segments, while working with the Data Organizer and other members of the communications team to help measure and analyze the effectiveness of such strategies

  • Assist media relations director in maintaining media database and scheduling media advisories, press statements and other forms of communication 

  • Collaborate in the development of on-the-ground and online campaigns that broaden and deepen activism and engagement among members with specific interests

  • Provide or plan trainings and support in digital organizing to newcomer leaders and allies so they can participate effectively in campaign activities


Content Creation

  • Develop graphics for print media, including but not limited to logos, brochures, flyers, banners, posters, shirts and other types of collateral 

  • Create digital graphics for the web and social media, including digital banners, photo collages, infographics, illustrations and more

  • Shoot, edit and produce videos, gifs and other types of compelling, shareable visual content

  • Work with Data Organizer to track social media metrics and analytics to advise on strategies for expanding and improving FLIC's social media and digital communications influence (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, SMS, and more)

  • Create and update templates for staff to create their own flyers, signs, and other basic visuals

  • Provide training and support to staff to help expand their graphic design capabilities

  • Contribute to future platform updates and the development of branding guides


Qualifications

  • Ability to conceptualize digital strategies in support of FLIC's mission: Can proactively create digital strategies to help FLIC achieve its mission (which includes winning advocacy and electoral campaigns and building power in the Florida immigrant community). Must be able to craft strategic toolkits and plan strategies to engage in digital list building and online-to-offline organizing.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Spark: Must be able to create compelling graphic and video content in multiple formats, including AI, PSD, GIF, INDD, MOV, and more.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

  • Excellent writing skills: Ability to write compelling, error-free content for a variety of digital platforms, including email, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Ability to write and speak in multiple languages preferred. Spanish and/or Creole skills a plus.

  • Ability to collect social media metrics and use various tools to schedule posts and collect data: Should be able to draft regular reports gathering social media metrics across multiple platforms and use Buffer, Hootsuite, and more to schedule steady streams of compelling, strategic social media content. Experience with data analytics a plus. 

  • Prioritization and flexibility: Focused on goals and able to problem-solve in order to meet them. Skilled at planning and tracking complex projects, can juggle competing priorities, and capable of adapting when plans need to change (which they sometimes do, unexpectedly).

  • Based in Florida: Applicants should be based in or willing to relocate to Florida, preferably South Florida. This position involves a mixture of site-based and remote work, including some travel.
