Digital Organizing Associate

NORML is currently seeking a passionate individual to join our growing team as a Digital Organizing Associate in Washington, DC.

Since its founding in 1970, NORML has been the premier nonprofit public-interest advocacy group providing a voice in the public policy debate for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition and favor an end to the practice of arresting responsible consumers. 

The role will report to NORML's Digital Administrator and other senior staff with a primary focus on growing the organization's presence online, engaging NORML supporters in the public policy debate, and provide critical support to NORML's national network of chapters. 


Responsibilities include

  • Maintain NORML's CRM system of members and subscribers
  • Assist in executing the annual membership growth plan
  • Managing NORML's social media assets in a manner to elevate public education and political engagement when it comes to cannabis policy
  • Produce compelling content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the organization's website
  • In coordination with senior leadership, develop public communications for NORML members and the press
  • Engage in targeted outreach to expand NORML's affiliate chapter network
  • Provide support to current NORML chapters, including leadership development, organizational support, and amplification of efforts
  • Email targeting for legislative efforts in cooperation with the Political Team 
  • Website updates and maintenance 


Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software 
  • Proficiency with MS Office, G Suite, and Adobe Software
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Experience with Wordpress
  • Experience managing CRM systems such as Salesforce, Action Network, or similar platforms
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can rapidly shift
  • A passion for reforming our nation's failed policy of marijuana criminalization
  • Professional attitude and patience to work with activists, advocates, and policymakers alike
