NY-24 Finance Assistant

The Race 

Dana Balter is running to represent New York's 24th district in Congress. This is one of Democrats' top opportunities to flip a seat from red to blue in 2020 and expand our majority. The district is in upstate New York and the largest city is Syracuse, where the campaign is based. Dana is a progressive candidate who would be the first woman to represent the district in Congress. Dana has been endorsed by EMILY's List who is targeting this as a top-priority race in 2020. Dana ran a strong campaign as the Democratic nominee in 2018, closing a 20 point margin and now just need to move 2.5 points to flip the seat this November.


Job Description 

The Finance Assistant will be the executor of critical aspects of fundraising for the campaign. Managing donor research, assisting with the call time program, and assisting the Finance Director with campaign events. 


Reports To: The Finance Director


Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting the Finance Director with planning and executing fundraising events, which will lead to directly overseeing part of the events program. This will include: working with event hosts, inviting guests, and managing event logistics.

  • Conducting donor research, which includes finding donation history and contact information for potential donors, using research tools and software provided by the campaign.

  • Assisting the Call Time Manager with the call time program, which includes: scheduling calls to donors, occasionally staffing candidate call time, and drafting and sending follow up correspondence to donors. 

  • Miscellaneous tasks to assist the finance team in day-to-day activities.

  • Ability to work autonomously to reach campaign goals and communicate clearly with team members.

  • Desire to bring a positive attitude to the office and enjoy working in collaborative environments with members of a team.

  • Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inspiring work environment for all members of the team. 


Requirements 

  • A car or reliable transportation to our office

  • A laptop

  • Enthusiasm for politics and political campaigns & a strong desire to elect Democratic women
