Blueprint NC is a collaborative of 501(c)(3) organizations working throughout North Carolina. Our key operating principles are collective impact and race equity. The voter registration coordinator will work alongside a stellar professional staff and partner organizations to support a massive voter registration campaign statewide. 


Position Overview


Blueprint NC seeks a talented leader with a record of success leading, facilitating and supporting civic engagement programs to serve as a full-time Voter Registration Coordinator. 

This position will work closely with organizations across North Carolina conducting a massive voter registration program and engaging in non-partisan civic engagement in communities of color. The Voter Registration Coordinator's role is to support these efforts through site coordination, as well as in-office and field trainings. The coordinator will also lead on overall program alignment, team-building and campaign coordination statewide. By conducting regular visits to partner offices and the field, running regular field reports, and leading weekly calls with groups, the VR coordinator will be the main person on the ground tracking program efficacy and supporting groups to integrate best practices and meet goals. The position is full time and reports to Blueprint's Field Coordinator.


Primary Responsibilities

Work with partner organizations to implement high-quality voter registration programs. 


  • Training: Provide training and support to partners on a range of topics including but not limited to sites where voters registrations can be collected, management, hiring, retention, coordination, and work plans. Work with canvass directors, organizers, canvassers and volunteers to build skills and capacity.

  • Field Visits: Conduct visits to partners' offices, as well as sites or events where partners are conducting voter registration. 

    • Travel typically 3-5 days a month to visit partner offices and more frequently closer to Election Day (by car with a valid driver's license).

  • Site Coordination: Support partners in managing their schedules for sites where voter registrations can be collected and facilitate communication between partners. 

  • Monitor and maintain a high standard of quality control practice:  Provide follow up & coaching to highlight or improve best practices around quality control ensuring complete and accurate voter registrations.

  • Quality Control: Lead on working with partners for resolving problems with quality control that come up in the verification process. Support partners to meet high-quality control standards.

  • Partner Communication: Provide ongoing open channels between Blueprint and partners on program, data, and updates. 

  • Program Evaluation: Evaluate program based on observations from partner office and field visits and provide feedback as needed.

    • Track progress to goal for each partner

  • Co-Lead Weekly Calls: Participate in check-ins with each partner to monitor progress to goal, provide updates and programmatic support. You will develop an agenda, co-leading the calls, and ensuring follow-up. 

  • Tools Administration & Support: Support partners in use of Adobe Acrobat for scanning and manage access to database for partner organizations. 

  • Other responsibilities, as assigned.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications:


  • A strong commitment to the goals of Blueprint NC including the civic engagement of historically underrepresented communities, and economic, social, and racial justice.

  • An understanding of voter registration programs and at least one to four years experience in labor, political, issue or community organizing or political campaigns. Field organizing or canvass experience encouraged.

  • Ability to work diplomatically in a coalition setting, delivering results from a diverse set of stakeholders that the position does not directly oversee. 

  • Experience conducting voter registration drives in a variety of settings including within major cities, rural communities, or on campus. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.

  • Strong organizational, time management, oral and written communications skills.

  • Experience working with and training volunteers or staff on field and canvass management.

  • Experience working with underrepresented and/or diverse communities preferred. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Docs and Adobe Acrobat

  • Must have reliable access to transportation. Willingness and ability to travel regularly within North Carolina (including by car with a valid driver's license) and some national travel.

Terms of Employment: Full-Time, through November 2020

Location: North Carolina. Blueprint NC's office is located in Raleigh, but we will consider candidates outside of the Triangle, especially in locations where significant voter registration work is taking place including: Eastern NC, the Triad, and Charlotte.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 annual salary and benefits package including medical, vision, dental, 401(k), and more.
