Greenpeace USA is hiring a Climate Campaign Manager to join our climate team. The Climate Campaign Manager will report to the Climate Campaign Director and play a vital role in supporting Greenpeace's strategy to effectively combat climate change and promote justice and human rights. 

We are looking for a problem-solver who loves to supercharge teams by creating internal management systems that enable their best work! The Climate Campaign Manager will work closely with the climate campaign director as a thought partner to identify and meet team needs, in the context of organizational and campaign objectives and priorities. The position will design and operationalize processes to support climate team members in building bold campaigns, help embed equity more effectively in our work, and use the team's resources efficiently to maximum our real world impact.

The Climate Campaign Manager will also support the Climate Campaign Director in ad hoc campaigns and special projects, such as managing an audience research project, and support external relationships and projects with strategic partnerships and allies.

As well as being a strategic and systems thinker, the Climate Campaign Manager will be someone who pays close attention to detail and deadlines, and is exceptionally organized. The right candidate may not be a climate expert, but will have experience designing and managing strong internal systems, preferably with organizations in the progressive movement.

This position is located in Washington, DC or Oakland, CA (Washington, DC preferable) and will report to the Climate Campaign Director.

This role will:

  • Support the strategic vision of climate program, including through strategic planning processes
  • Manage internal operations of the climate team, including by developing and running campaign planning, budgeting, and evaluation systems and processes to enable more efficient and more impactful work
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources as needed both within the team and across the organization
  • Lead hiring processes and building programs and systems to develop team members
  • Lead process to embed equity, diversity and inclusion in the climate team's work
  • Task manage and potentially line managing staff
  • Help build program coherence and team alignment, including through critical conversations, team learning, and implementing best practices across the team
  • Support or manage ad hoc campaigns, special projects and strategic external partnerships as assigned by the Climate Campaign Director

Minimum requirements include:

  • BA/BS Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of seven years campaign or campaign operations experience; climate or environmental advocacy strongly preferred
  • Excellent project and task management skills and experience in directing a project from conception to completion
  • Proven ability to manage professional priorities, manage time and meet deadlines
  • Proven track record of operationalizing strategic systems and processes to deliver high impact campaign wins 
  • Strong staff management skills, including willingness to facilitate conflict resolution and offer direct feedback to foster professional growth
  • Alignment with Greenpeace values, including commitment to non-violent direct action
  • Understanding of and commitment to human rights, especially the rights of Indigenous Peoples and climate-affected communities

Additional qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to adapt to changing internal and external landscapes
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
  • Fluency in a non-English language, especially Spanish, a plus
