DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working with more than 40 City agencies and offices, 300 institutional funders, and 100 community-based partners. The Mayor's Fund and its partners advance initiatives that improve the lives of New Yorkers from all walks of life and across all five boroughs. In particular, the Mayor's Fund has made strategic investments to promote mental health services for all New Yorkers, increase workforce development opportunities for young New Yorkers, and meet the needs of New York City's diverse immigrant community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mayor's Fund seeks a Development Assistant who will play an integral role in supporting the office to engage the private sector with New York City public projects. This position reports to the Director of Development, is responsible for coordinating ongoing administrative and fundraising tasks and works closely with other staff members of the Mayor's Fund. The responsibilities of the Development Assistant include, but are not limited to:
· Manage data entry, clean-up, gifts, funder contacts, meetings, and calls in the Raiser's Edge database for the Development and Programs teams
· Create reports for tracking calls, meetings, commitments and funding history from the Raiser's Edge database
· Maintain donor tracking tools, files, and other department related materials;
· Serve as lead on donor acknowledgements
· Assist with the preparation and review of grant applications, program collaterals, reports, and proposals to institutional, individual and corporate donors; draft weekly reports
· Draft briefings for calls and meetings for the Executive Director and Development Director
· Manage communications lists for newsletters, funder briefings, board of advisors, and Mayor's Fund events
· Assist with event logistics including preparing printed materials and acting as the check-in troubleshooter
· Work closely with the finance department to track invoices and payments
· Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Development
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a passion for creating and nurturing strategic partnerships and connections between philanthropic leaders, city agencies, and community-based organizations to increase opportunity, access and equity for all NYC residents. A successful candidate will possess:
· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
· 1-2 years of fundraising and development experience at a nonprofit or campaign
· Familiarity with Raiser's Edge or equivalent fundraising database
· Strong attention to detail is a must
· Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
· Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, high energy environment
· A team player, resourceful, organized and results oriented
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
· Familiarity with the NYC philanthropic community a plus
SALARY: The salary for this position is $45,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Mayor's Fund also provides its employees with a robust benefits package.
