The Email Director will guide overall strategy for the team and manage programs to maximize our clients' online fundraising and engagement programs. A successful candidate will have experience successfully working in a cross-functional capacity; in this role, that would look like working across various teams like email, digital advertising, and data and analytics. Ideally, you have experience writing and designing programs for diverse stakeholders, communities, and users.
As the Email Director, you oversee work that is highly motivating and inspiring. As a leader in the organization, you will provide guidance to team members on competing priorities and projects. You're someone who prides themselves on being organized, motivated, and pays attention to small and big details (typos are easy for you to catch!). This role requires strong project management skills -- you'll work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment with coworkers who are excited about the work and mission!
Responsibilities
- You will lead internal strategy meetings with a focus on efficiency and collaboration. You will drive creative discussions and champion best practices in digital strategy and email campaigning that balance creativity with data-informed insights;
- You are willing and able to build relationships and work across teams, and understand that success in this role includes intentional collaboration with internal team members;
- You will oversee team members to write email copy, handle production, and develop email calendars and fundraising projections for clients;
- You will provide guidance on testing and adopting new strategies and features to maximize engagement and/or fundraising goals for our clients;
- You are on top of the latest trends in email campaigning, deliverability, and online storytelling so that so we can make cutting edge recommendations to our clients based on best practices;
- You are a sharp copy-editor and can ensure brand and message consistency across all clients;
- You are a champion for experimentation and innovation, ensuring that we use new data and innovations to implement changes and new tactics across campaigns;
- You will handle occasional client work, as needed.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have substantive experience managing email programs or digital engagement programs in a political, nonprofit, or campaign context. Skills that will make a candidate successful in this role include:
- Demonstrated skills in email design, writing and editing HTML, engagement optimization, narrative strategy, and an understanding of how to bridge the online-offline divide;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing, planning, and executing tests and report results for online campaigns;
- Experience running direct response advertising programs with a focus on donations and email acquisition;
- Direct experience producing emails in CRMS like Blue State Digital, EveryAction, ActBlue, and ActionKit, or the ability to learn these systems quickly;
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams in an environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders;

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000 annually.
The position is salaried with competitive benefits including health care, vision, dental, and 401k with a match (after one year) and paid time off.
