Overview
Faith in Public Life seeks a Women of Faith Campaign Director to recruit and mobilize a national network of women faith leaders dedicated to building a democracy that serves and represents everyone. The Director will lead a dynamic campaign to educate and mobilize women of faith ahead of the 2020 election to advocate for social justice issues including immigration reform, health care, economic justice and criminal justice reform. The Director will organize grassroots campaign activities and leverage a variety of digital advocacy tactics to help us win and protect democracy in the 2020 election.
The Director is a strong leader, a skilled project manager, a savvy relationship-builder and digital communications pro who is passionate about mobilizing women voters in faith communities. The Campaign Director is a contract position from April to November 2020.
About Faith in Public Life
Faith in Public Life (FPL) and Faith in Public Life Action (FPLAF) (our sister 501c4 organization) are a national network of nearly 50,000 clergy and faith leaders united in the prophetic pursuit of justice and the common good. With staff in four states and growing, we work closely with our members to take strategic moral action that shapes policy both locally and nationally. We believe that faith leaders have unique moral power to influence public debates and build more just and equitable communities.
Responsibilities
Grow FPL's multi-faith network of women leaders hailing from backgrounds that reflect the communities we work in, by expanding the reach of our email list and our media influence.
Create, manage and direct a multi-faith advisory council of women leaders across the country to support FPL's grassroots advocacy with tactics, such as: sign on letters, online trainings and in-person Women of Power Summits.
Oversee the implementation of targeted messaging research (polling, focus groups, online panels, etc.) Assist in creating a cohesive and persuasive messaging strategy around reproductive health issues in faith communities.
Quickly coordinate press conferences and other media events at the speed of the news cycle. Actions include petition deliveries, stand-up news conferences and other creative tactics that earn media attention.
Lead paid media campaigns leveraging research, trends and audience analysis to recommend appropriate media mix for reaching target audiences in a variety of channels.
Design tools that teach messaging principles and talking points to spokespeople.
Develop and disseminate campaign materials through multiple channels including: social media, email and digital engagement of women voters, including on Facebook and webinars.
Stay abreast of legislative and political developments, building and maintaining knowledge of key Congressional and state legislative targets.
Fundraise for the campaign and long-term sustainability of the project in partnership with FPL's development team.
Qualifications
5 to 7 years combined experience in nonprofit advocacy, voter education and mobilization, and/or political campaigns
Goal-oriented project manager with demonstrated experience leading complex projects on a tight timeline
Experience convening and leading coalitions with demonstrated impact
Creative thinker and problem solver who enjoys experimenting with new approaches to engaging leaders and voters
Adaptable, and quick to adjust plans and goals as needed
Dynamic communicator with experience writing and managing the creation of materials including toolkits, emails, and social media content
Skilled at building relationships one-on-one and in group settings
Eager to work with faith leaders and people of faith from a wide range of backgrounds, including religious tradition, race, ethnicity and class
Proven experience with messaging research
Commitment to and experience in advancing racial equity and inclusion in the workplace
Experience working in and with communities of color welcomed and prioritized
Commitment to Faith in Public Life's mission and working with faith leaders and faith messaging in the pursuit of social justice
Compensation:
This is an 8-month contract position with a range of $7,000 to $8,000 per month, dependent upon experience.
