Tennessee's C4 Table is seeking a talented leader with a record of success in field and digital organizing on behalf of electoral and issue campaigns.
-- The Field Director is primarily responsible for leading and supporting 501c(4) Tennessee partner organizations in the execution of a coordinated plan that maximizes the priorities, resources, and effectiveness of all partners. Given the new circumstances, the Field Director will focus on building a distributed organizing program that remains flexible to adapt to changing conditions. The Field Director will ensure short-term programs and elections advance the shared long-term vision for progressive change in Tennessee and will be expected to act with appropriate discretion and respect for confidentiality requirements.
Outcomes Responsible:
- Win elections.
- Create and implement a digital and distributed organizing plan.
- Increase voter contact and civic participation in targeted districts.
- Use elections to help build power collectively for influencing policymaking after the elections.
- Lead the effort to help deepen and form lasting long-term relationships within communities across the state to build collective electoral and advocacy power.
Responsibilities:
- Assist partners in developing work plans that are layered within the strategy.
- Recruit and manage volunteer leaders in a distributed organizing program.
- Organize and manage regular voter contact and field program as well as manage voter education and outreach plans based on achieving long-term priorities developed by in-state partner organizations and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and report to stakeholder's program outcomes and monitor progress toward goals.
- Provide strategic programmatic guidance and support to c4 partner organizations, including the development of shared plans, budgets, metrics, organizing strategies, and evaluations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Field experience (managing door, phone and digital programs)
- Organizing experience (developing and distributing leadership in others to reach goals)
- Distributed and digital organizing experience
- Electoral and issue-based experience
- Relationship building: ability to build trust and involvement with others
- Managing others without formal authority (can you get others to do stuff you don't manage?)
- Management experience:
- Giving tough feedback and addressing performance issues
- Setting goals and managing progress toward goals
- Developing talent: giving feedback, training, etc.
- Organizational and project management: capable of managing a lot of details, processes, etc.
- Communicate well with a variety of audiences and meet people where they are - whether it is with c4 partner organizations, funders, or community groups
- Writing skills for various content:
- social media content (blog, tweet, events, etc.)
- program plans and grants
- technical (RFQ, RFPs, etc.)
- Spreadsheet: basic competency manipulating spreadsheets
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Applicants must be a self-starter; be willing to work long and irregular hours and to travel as needed
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent writing and presentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously.
- Competence in VAN
