THE POSITION:

We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist to expand our Human Resources team.  The starting pay range is $70,000 annually depending on experience.  In this position, you will be responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource department including administering pay, benefits, leave, training, performance management, and employee relations.  Looking for a well-rounded Generalist with additional interest and background in Employee Relations, Training and Development.  This person will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer.

OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, implement and administer HR services, strategies, policies, and programs
  • Responsible for new hire orientation and employee engagement initiatives
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale;; and training and development
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the CHRO
  • Ensuring all employees and managers are properly trained to use tools and resources for effective performance and development evaluation while providing counsel and support to managers for performance development and improvement processes
  • Assist managers with performance management issues, compensation, retention strategies, and employee development
  • Analysis of workforce management HR data and reporting
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law
  •  Ability to process semi-monthly and small bi-weekly payroll - Preferred

YOU'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE:

  • 5-7 years of HR Generalist experience 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Nice to have: CEBS, CPP, SHRM-CP and/or PHR certifications
  • Experience with Zenefits preferred
  • Proficiency utilizing MacBook for work purposes
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) as well as Google Suite Products (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Etc.)
  • Must be tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn and utilize new software, apps, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be proactive and perform work independently and/or in a group setting, as necessary
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.


THE LOCATION

Mothership Strategies is located at 1328 Florida Avenue NW (near 14th st.), in a residential area of Washington DC, close to Historic U St.  We are metro accessible and located in a 2 story, open-concept office.
