We are looking to add an energetic, experienced Finance Specialist with approximately 5+ years of experience. We are looking for someone to help us with our growth so you will have a demonstrated background on setting up processes with at least 2 years experience in a small and growing business to our Washington DC team. You will have the ability to make a direct impact on our company as we scale-up internally by recommending process changes as we grow and being responsible for capturing budget changes, providing quick assessments on information, as well as being responsible for creating variance analysis and other spending analysis reports for the leadership team. Ultimately you will contribute to meaningful work for our Federal government clients to help them do amazing things.

About the Role:
You will provide financial and accounting support to a Federal government consulting firm. We have a reputation for excellence in our cost control, invoicing, and payment processes and you will be a large part of maintaining and growing that reputation. This role is an opportunity for you to join a growing operations team that supports meaningful and mission-oriented work to our Federal government clients.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
Manage account payables and receivables activities
Maintain and update the corporate budget and identify and communicate financial risks immediately
Spearhead and make improvements to existing Corner Alliance finance and accounting processes
Manage credit card receipt collection and classification
Create monthly and quarterly variance analysis reports
Generate and submit client invoices on a monthly basis
Prepare weekly cash flow reports
Manage semi-monthly payroll processing (payroll, expense reimbursements, reconciliations, troubleshooting)
Coordinate or assist with the budget process
Review RFPs, analyze pricing requirements, prepare cost volumes for submission
Maintain and evaluate financial documents and data for correctness and completeness
Create and maintain users and project financial data in our timekeeping and expense system (Unanet)
Review all accounting procedures and recommend improvements to ensure DCAA compliance
Identify areas for continuous process improvement and business optimization
Assist staff on accounting practices and update/maintain financial records
Review expense reimbursement requests from staff
Assist in the collection of company Key Performance Indicators across all functions
Provide back-up for the Director of Finance

Location:
You will work as part of our growing Operations Team at the Washington, DC headquarters. Remote work is possible, however, the person must live in the DC metro area and be available for in-person meetings.
Required Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar field
Approximately 5-8 years professional experience
At least 2 years of experience in finance/accounting in a small and growing business OR federal government consulting firm
Proven process implementation
Ability to safeguard sensitive company and confidential information
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), DCAA and other regulations pertinent to government consulting
Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
Demonstrated experience on setting up new processes for a growing company
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
Responsible for calculating rates for subcontractors and consultants
Working knowledge of Google Suite and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Unanet)
Well-organized with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Ability to prepare, present, and explain financial information to a variety of audiences
US citizenship or permanent resident and the ability to pass a background check
Would love to see:
CPA Certification
Familiarity with finance and statistical analysis software (e.g Smartsheet)
Familiarity with Namely or similar payroll processing system
Prior experience in a federal government consulting firm
