The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 45 partner organizations in more than 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C., and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. About the Position:

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a Director of Talent and Equity. This is a new position that will recruit, develop, and retain talent and further an organizational culture centered in diversity, inclusion, equity and leadership. The Director of Talent and Equity will be supervised by the Chief of Equity & Racial Justice,  and will work closely with the HR team, members of the Senior Leadership Team, supervisors and staff across the organization on training, coaching, systems, and data analysis. 


Primary Responsibilities


The Director of Talent and Equity will:


Develop and implement equitable recruitment, hiring, and onboarding and retention practices, in collaboration with the Human Resource (HR) team. 

  1. Coordinate trainings for staff on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion;

  2. In collaboration with the HR team, support supervisor trainings and consistent application of protocols and policies throughout the organization;

  3. Guide and support equity committee, caucuses, and other internal groups in advancing equity 

  4. Develop and implement staff surveys and other forms of data collection and analysis relevant to meeting diversity, equity and inclusion goals;

  5. Help inform CPD's approach to pay equity and support pay equity analyses and reviews.

  6. Identify, develop, and implement other systems and approaches that make CPD/A a place where all staff can thrive.

  7. Support other initiatives aimed at building and sustaining a culture of high performance, growth, innovation, collaboration and support, as required.

Job Requirements

  • Preferably at least 5 years experience in driving diversity, equity and inclusion;

  • Preferably experience in Human Resources, including talent or coaching, ideally in a unionized environment;

  • Ideally experience in organizing or campaign, or other movement environments; 

  • Demonstrated commitment to and analysis of  social, racial and economic justice and their intersections;

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders;

  • High-level relationship building capacity;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to be diplomatic and have discretion in dealings with others; high degree of professionalism, tact, initiative, and diplomacy;

  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and organizational skills;

  • Ability to work well independently and to drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment;

  • Dedication to organizational excellence, compassion, problem-solving, and sustainable solutions

Salary and Benefits

CPD is a unionized workplace.  This is a confidential position, not included in our bargaining unit. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years' experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be between $105,000 and $120,000.

We have a generous benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 15 vacation days per year, 10 sick days per year, 12 paid holidays per year, and contributions to individuals' 401K plans.
