Hiring a campaign manager for a progressive candidate in the DC council at-large race!Will Merrifield is a tenant attorney running for an at-large seat on the DC council in November on a Green New Deal platform - the campaign is participating in DC's new public financing program so donations from DC residents are matched 5 to 1.

The Will Merrifield Campaign is seeking an experienced Campaign Manager to manage strategy and day-to-day operations for the at-large race for DC Council. Will is a housing attorney with experience representing and organizing with tenants on the frontlines of housing struggles in DC. The Will Merrifield Campaign is centered around a progressive Green New Deal Recovery Plan and is participating in DC's Fair Elections program, taking only small-dollar donations and no corporate or PAC money.


General Responsibilities:

  • Manage internal communications and task delegation for candidate & campaign team

    • Strategically coordinate between candidate and team

    • Assist in overall development and implementation of campaign strategy

  • Candidate management

    • Create lists and manage candidate call time 

    • Schedule meetings, events, and earned media 

  • Fundraising 

    • Coordinate fundraising operations using NGP, with a focus on online giving

    • Work with team to manage campaign budget and OCF reporting 

    • Tracking pledges and thank you's, maximizing DC donors

  • Field Operations

    • Procure and organically grow campaign data and plan digital and in-person events

    • Develop, monitor, and track phone banking and canvassing data and goals

    • Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to manage volunteer database, recruit volunteers, and maximize voter outreach and contact

    • Work with team to stand up infrastructure for a peer-to-peer texting program

  • Communications 

    • Work with the team to design communications strategy

    • Manage the execution of all communication responsibilities

    • Write and review emails and social media content


Qualifications:  

  • 2-4 years of campaign experience

  • Digital, field, or community organizing experience and DC ties preferred

  • Familiarity with NGP and digital tools (email and social media)

  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe, and other commonly used applications preferred

  • Experience in relational organizing and P2P texting tools (Reach, Outreach Circle, etc)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
