DIGITAL CONTENT STRATEGIST

Gary Peters for Michigan is hiring a Digital Content Strategist to join the campaign (in metro Detroit, Michigan -- currently remote position). This is a full-time, paid position, perfect for someone looking to expand their experience working online. You will report to the Digital Director. Salary commensurate with experience.


About You:

  • Dedicated to Democratic politics and ready to help reelect Gary Peters to the U.S. Senate.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle more than one project at once is a must, along with strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to work with a team under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment that will include work on nights and weekends, and being able to pivot on a dime.

  • Experience running a social media program and developing the voice of the organization online using platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

  • Enthusiasm for using said online tools to reach people where they are and expand the reach and message of the campaign.


Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Mobilization Director, empower and build an online activists and influencers group to take action and promote our work.

  • Main creative content writer for multiple social platforms, including blog posts, graphics, gifs, videos, etc.

  • Helps Digital Director in monitoring evergreen content calendar and social planning.

  • Monitor online trends and apply them to our candidate.

  • Help gather and produce campaign assets including photos, video and testimonials that further the campaign's message.

  • Draft both evergreen and rapid response content. 


Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in digital communications for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, or non-profit.

  • Extraordinary creativity, *extremely* online and passionate about using each social media platform to its fullest extent.

  • Exceptional writing skills with strong attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Knowledge of photography and audio/video editing. 

  • Basic fluency in graphic design software like Adobe Creative Suite products (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator), or others, is preferred.
