Position: Relational Organizer

Friends of Cheri Bustos is now accepting applications for the position of Relational Organizer.
Friends of Cheri Bustos is seeking a Relational Organizer for the 2020 election. The ideal candidate has strong organizing skills, is tech-savvy, experienced in remote event support, texting, volunteer recruitment, and has experience participating in distributed volunteer teams. As part of the campaign's organizing team, this role is responsible for ensuring successful execution of distributed events including (but not limited to) house parties, phonebanks, text banks, social contacts, and other direct actions. You will also manage and train volunteer teams throughout the district. The Relational Organizer will report directly to the Campaign Manager and be based in Rock Island, IL.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Work with the Distributed Organizer to train existing volunteers on how to persuade and turnout contacts in their existing network.
· Recruit new volunteers to persuade and turnout contacts in their existing network.
· Foster a culture of positivity, emotional intelligence, and support amongst volunteers at all times.
· Work with the Digital Director to create short and effective training webinars, well-crafted how-to guides, and high impact volunteer calls to action.
· Create compelling and interactive social, texting, and phone based organizing campaigns, while utilizing texting best practices to maximize program results.
· Manage and maintain event creation, texting, and calling tool platforms.
· Generate nightly and weekly organizing reports to track progress to goal.
Minimum experience includes:
· Experience managing and training multiple volunteer teams.
· Skilled in team-based organizing.
· Train-the-trainer mentality.
· Comfortable with managing from metrics and has an understanding of field data.
· Familiarity with campaign technology platforms including VAN.
· Attention to detail and strategic viewpoints.
· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
· At least one cycle as an organizer or higher position.
This position is full time and includes long and intense hours of work, including holidays and weekends. The Distributed Organizer must be willing to travel within the district for events and trainings, and must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and a vehicle in good working condition.
