Job Description
Georgia Shift is seeking a full-time Program Director with a commitment to long-term organizing and
increasing youth participation in elections to lead our civic engagement, leadership development, and
issue organizing programs. The Program Director will also represent Georgia Shift in various progressive
coalitions and collaborate regularly with partner organizations. The Program Director will spearhead and
drive civic engagement strategies with an emphasis on young people of color under 30 years old to meet
and/or exceed program deliverables.

education, electoral action, and civic media programs. We envision a Georgia where marginalized young
people are the fundamental driver of political impact and public policy at every level of government in an
unbridled democracy. Georgia Shift is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with an affiliated 501(c)4
organization, GS Action.
Responsibilities
● Program Planning & Strategy (60%)
o Aid staff in recruiting, managing, and hiring field staff and select advocacy staff
o Collaborate with Executive Director to meet program goals as it relates to field organizing,
advocacy, and leadership development
o Assist in strategic planning for the vision of the organization
o Responsible for achieving all programmatic metrics outlined for 2020 - 2021
o Create strategic engagement plans using unique on-the-ground knowledge to create a
sustainable volunteer recruitment pipeline and build our base
o Lead program staff to achieve policy goals
o Support organizers who lead fellowship program implementation; including but not limited
to recruitment, curriculum monitoring, and event planning
o Identify and implement mechanisms to monitor program activities, impact evaluation, and
data collection on a daily and weekly basis as needed
o Assist staff in planning and executing leadership development events for program staff,
volunteers and/or fellows
o Monitor and track programmatic budgets
● Community Organizing (25%)
o Manage organizers to recruit, train, and mobilize staff + volunteers for canvassing, phone
banking, and other data needs
o Coordinate community, staff, and volunteers to drive issue campaign priorities and goals,
and analyze outcomes to help hone campaign strategy and program development
o Provide strategic oversight to coordinate community organizing efforts including issue
organizing, voter registration, and electoral campaigns
● Quality Control + Compliance (15%)
o Manage all quality control staff involved in field programming
o Ensure security and quality control of voter registrations and other related voting forms in
accordance with state and funder guidelines
o Work with appropriate staff and legal counsel on program compliance needs
o Create and implement policies for effective data management

Qualifications
● Demonstrated experience successfully leading issue campaigns
● Experience building out leadership development programs
● Experience managing staff or interns
● Demonstrated ability to build cross-organizational and/or departmental relationships to advance
work
● Demonstrated commitment to equity and building relationships with communities of color,
low-income communities, and LGBTQIA+ communities
● Strong organizational skills and ability to follow-through
● Familiarity with data and targeting programs (i.e., VAN, TargetSmart, and Catalist) is preferred but
not required
This is a full-time position, with a strong preference for the person to be based in Augusta with prior
professional experience and established connections in Georgia and requires frequent in-person activities
in Augusta, if not based there, especially once COVID restrictions ease.
The position reports to the Executive Director. Georgia Shift provides medical and dental coverage with
paid sick and vacation time, along with a professional development budget. This position works with
organizers and volunteers and sometimes requires evening and weekend hours. Salary is $50,000 -
$55,000, commensurate with experience.
