We are seeking a Mobilization and Distributed Organizing Coordinator to recruit, train and manage volunteers to drive our campaigns city-wide distributed voter engagement. This role will be responsible for identifying volunteer leaders and building volunteer-led team capacity to create and launch decentralized voter engagement activities including remote phone banks, door-to-door canvasses, peer-to-peer texting and more.
Location: Washington, DC
Compensation: $1,000/week
Timeline: Immediate hire, full time through November 15, 2020
Reports To: Field Director
Responsibilities:
· Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to run multiple weekly voter engagement events
· Work with the campaign Field Director to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly campaign field goals from distributed teams are met
· Develop training and support material for in-person and remote volunteer voter engagement activities as needed
· Responsible for onboarding new volunteers, identifying and building capacity of team leaders through group and one-on-one coaching
· Develop and supervise volunteer leaders to run and grow their respective teams and conduct their own organizing activities
· Identify and build Campaign Surrogate leaders to represent campaign in the community
· Working with the Field Director, organize and manage campaigns peer-to-peer text program
· Assist in coordination of aggressive GOTV efforts to turn out supporters, including coordinating volunteer precinct captains and teams for poll coverage
· Act as point of contact for volunteers
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· A solid commitment to racial and economic justice, progressive causes, and candidates
· At least one cycle of campaign organizing experience. Experience with distributed organizing preferred
· Working understanding of VAN/VoteBuilder or similar voter engagement system
· Door-to-door canvassing and phone bank experience for a political campaign
· Experience recruiting, training, and managing teams of volunteers and developing leaders
· Is a proactive problem solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Ability to work irregular, long hours, including nights and weekends
· Preferred but not required, familiarity with Washington, DC political landscape, has a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
