Texas is the biggest battleground state in the country, and Texas Democrats are poised to win statewide seats for the first time in 25 years. It is critical that the Texas Democratic Party support our statewide candidates, provide valuable guidance and tools (i.e., a "campaign in a box"), render useful campaign services and deliverables, and build trust to secure candidate participation in a robust 2020 coordinated campaign.
The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for a Candidate Services Coordinator to execute an ambitious, statewide program providing extensive resources and services to our statewide candidates. This role reports directly to the Candidate Services Director and is a remote, full-time, cycle-only position.
Duties include but are not limited to::
- Managing services to a portfolio of campaigns, assisting directly with:
- Managing or participating in regular conference calls in a structured and professional fashion to assist with earned and paid media plans, field operations and fundraising; and
- Liaising between campaign staff and the county/state coordinated campaign apparatus to ensure all parties are effectively communicating
- Planning and executing coordinated fundraising events
- Preparing reports on campaign activities for county and state coordinated staff
- Working with Voter Protection and Organizing staff to ensure scarce resources and effort are being used most effectively and efficiently
- Additional duties as assigned by Candidate Services Director
Requirements include:
- 1 cycle of candidate campaign experience in management, or 2+ cycles of candidate campaign experience in junior roles
- A holistic and data-informed understanding of campaigns
- Superior project management skills, including effective task delegation and tracking, and familiarity with collaborative task management tools
- Proficiency with organizing tools, including Votebuilder/VAN, MobilizeAmerica, and / or texting platforms
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with different types of stakeholders, from high level elected officials to grassroots activists
Required tools include:
- A reliable laptop
- A reliable cell phone
Preferred experience includes:
- Experience organizing in communities of color and/or non-English-speaking communities
- Texas ties and / or battleground state experience
