Position Summary
The Development Manager will be a key member of the Community team, helping to maximize the organization's ability to raise funds from individuals and foundations in support of Future Now Fund/Future Now Action's growth nationally. Reporting to the Senior Community Manager and working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Manager will support the Executive Director in managing a portfolio of major donors, directly manage a portfolio of mid-level donors, help to execute an annual fundraising plan, and own prospect research, donor cultivation processes and execution, and donor information management.
The successful candidate will display excellent judgment in sensitive situations, a keen attention to detail, a commitment to responsive customer service oriented engagement, the ability to juggle the human side of donor development while navigating compliance and regulatory complexities, and a no-job-too-small attitude to the work at hand.

Responsibilities
Development Strategy
Execute an annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Senior Community Manager and Executive Director that includes a cultivation, solicitation, and travel plan to meet goals, and is coordinated with all organizational development activities including Giving Circle and online donation programs
Research and identify new prospects across donor type, including all giving levels, individuals, and foundations, analyzing their giving histories and developing cultivation strategies in partnership with the ED and Senior Community Manager
Maintain awareness of political, social, and economic factors that may affect donor relationships, apprise team of relevant information, and act quickly when necessary
Suggest improvements for tools, software, and processes to optimize Development activities
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
Own a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects, driving relationships forward through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship
Work with the Assistant to the ED to schedule meetings and provide meeting support to the ED with principal prospects and major donors
Lead preparation and creation of internal and external development-related communication including correspondence, proposals, spreadsheets, reports, cultivation documents, follow-up materials, and briefing memos in line with Development strategy
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with mid-level donors to complement ED and expand organizational relationship capacity
Take the lead on donor maintenance activities, including updates, solicitation for input, follow-ups, cadence of meetings with ED or appropriate team member, thank yous and other acknowledgements in line with Development strategy
Provide regular status updates and reports to staff and ED
Create and deliver data-driven materials relating to past and upcoming Development activities as requested
Provide event support for the Community team, with a focus on events related to donor cultivation and stewardship
Assist Senior Community Manager, COO, and ED in preparing for board meetings (including annual board retreat), staff strategic planning retreats, and other major meetings that involve Development
Financial and Compliance Management
Maintain accurate and clear tracking of prospects and donors, including an up-to-date donor CRM and finance database system(s) and overseeing any team members (including consultants and vendors) responsible for data entry and donation processing: all information about the donor pipeline, including engagement, correspondence, solicitations, and donations with/from donors
In coordination with counsel and compliance, manage donors' expectations regarding contribution compliance and ensure donations are routed to the correct accounts
Update fundraising pages to ensure compliance information is accurate and up-to-date
Provide access to compliance team to all non-Giving Circle fundraising pages
Assist compliance team in obtaining necessary donor information for reporting
Ensure compliance review is completed on external compliance materials and manage system to ensure final versions of documents are in use by the Community team
Team Management
Manage contribution processing, gift tracking, and donor acknowledgement for all non-Giving Circle contributions
Manage the workflow of the Development pipeline and engage staff and board members as necessary to meet monthly targets
Manage and execute fundraising-related travel and events (including all logistics such as agendas, info packets, briefing materials, presentations, travel arrangements, etc., in coordination with the Assistant to the ED), and staff events/travel as necessary, both in lead and support roles (currently not happening due to COVID)

Track record of success with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, preferably in a political or political-adjacent environment
Benefits
Future Now Fund/Future Now Action offer 75% paid coverage of medical, dental, and vision for individuals and families, unlimited PTO, 15 paid holidays in 2020, a small annual professional development stipend, and paid family leave. The salary for this position is $75,000 to $80,000 per year.
Position Details
This is a full-time exempt position. Currently due to COVID, our office in Brooklyn, New York is closed and the team is remote at least through Labor Day 2020. We will provide at least four weeks' notice to team members regarding an office reopening and will consider remote candidates. Once travel is safe to resume, some travel will be required. Occasional evening and weekend hours are occasionally required for Community and donor events. Relocation is not available for this role.
