About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. About the Position

CPD/A is seeking a full-time Operations Associate in our Brooklyn office to help assure smooth day to day operations of the organization. This is a front line position on our team, and the ideal candidate takes satisfaction in getting results in a fast-paced environment and is able to handle complex competing priorities. The Operations Associate will report to the Director of Systems and Administration and work closely with our Operations Manager and our DC-based Operations Associate, in addition to a range of individuals within and outside CPD.

Responsibilities will likely include:

  • Working with the Director of Systems and Administration on technology coordination with an external IT vendor, maintaining office equipment and organization hardware fleet, and answering questions from staff on key CPD systems. Please note that special technology experience is not required for this role, and necessary training will be provided.

  • Draft communication on important office and technology updates

  • Providing administrative support by processing invoices and completing expense reports for senior staff. When our office re-opens, the Operations Associate will provide additional administrative support by sorting mail, routing communication from the primary CPD phone line and inbox, and coordinating office catering

  • Assist with virtual onboarding and offboarding CPD staff. When our office re-opens, additional responsibilities will include welcoming visitors at reception, making sure the office is properly stocked with office supplies and consumables, and orienting new staff to the office.

  • Working with maintenance staff, cleaning staff, and various vendors to keep our office space fully functioning

  • Supporting the team on providing logistics support for organization wide events, special convenings, and actions

Qualifications

Strong organization skills, above average people and communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced but highly-supportive environment are paramount.

You should have:

  • At least one year of experience in a professional environment.

  • Strong organization skills: You love to-do lists and have a basic system for project management that helps you complete work on time. You can report out on the status of your work to your team, and you prepare agendas for your meetings.

  • People skills: You know how to build trust and credibility with your colleagues, and staff can rely on you for the support they need.

  • Problem solving skills: We're living in the era of the unexpected! You know how to stay focussed and problem solve when dealing with a Zoom malfunction or coordinating a complicated delivery to a colleague.

  • Above average communication skills: You're comfortable writing procedures and can adjust tone in emails to different audiences.
