[GAINPOWER.org: Jobs That Are Left] Field Director -- DC Council Campaign (Washington, D.C.)

Position Summary:

DC Councilmember Brooke Pinto seeks a full-time Field Director for her November general election campaign. The position requires 40 hours a week and is based in Washington, D.C. and requires a firm commitment through Election Day 2020.

The ideal candidate will be creative, entrepreneurial, and have a vast knowledge of DC enabling them to create a thorough field strategy. The Field Director will be responsible for running a data-driven voter mobilization program through the implementation of a ward-wide voter contact effort. Candidate must have demonstrated success in organizing and outreach. Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with a small team, including the principal and a senior campaign official. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement and GOTV efforts that are flexible and responsive to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Produce regular field data reports for Campaign Manager

  • Build daily/weekly phone banks and text banks with support of Campaign Manager and interns

  • Oversee all aspects of direct voter contact: canvassing or lit drops, phone banking, text banking for persuasion, and turnout efforts, with special attention to digital outreach in light of the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with local party leaders and activist groups throughout the district

  • Attend Farmers Markets and meet and greets, sometimes on weekends

Requirements:

  • At least one campaign cycle of field experience

  • Experience in digital organizing is a plus

  • Proficiency with NGP VAN, Votebuilder, and MobilizeAmerica, among other applications 

  • Must be able to work collaboratively and be able to juggle multiple priorities at a time

  • Must have strong written and communication skills, be detail oriented, and have excellent time management skills

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines

  • Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities 

  • Flexibility to work weekends and long hours is required

  • Previous experience working in DC is strongly preferred


Location: Mostly remote / Must reside in D.C.

Duration: ASAP through mid-November 2020 

Pay: $2,400/month
