Communications Director
A Democratic campaign in top-tier Indiana Congressional District 02 is seeking a senior level Communications Director who will work closely with the Democratic nominee, campaign manager, consultants, campaign staff, and other core members of campaign team to lead the campaign's communications strategy in this targeted district.
The Communications Director will identify, develop, and implement strategies to connect with target audiences through email, social media, press, and other sources to advance name recognition, campaign message, and to mobilize GOTV efforts.
Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced campaign environment, can keep multiple projects moving, and plans for and hits deadlines. The Communications Director will work closely with and will report directly to the Campaign Manager. If selected, you will have the opportunity to help flip back a once blue House district seat held by former Sen. Joe Donnelly and Rep. Jill Long Thompson. Responsibilities
- Execute the overall communications strategy of the campaign
- Together with our public relations firm: handle press inquiries, outreach to press, press releases
- Develop and foster relationships with local reporters covering the campaign
- Proactively pitch stories, create media materials and shape media narrative around our campaign.
- Secure positive media placements for the candidate and the campaign
- Manage social media accounts to engage and set ambitious growth goals for our online community
- Stay attuned to current events and trending content in order to identify strategic engagement opportunities
- Create visually compelling and shareable graphics for events, social media posts, landing pages, and, together with our digital consultant, ads and pre-roll
- Update website content as needed
- Draft content and copy for fundraising and campaign emails through Mailchimp and social media communications
- Work to help endorsers/ supporters share their stories through videos, images
- Execute digital events like our online "Pat Chats" and virtual fundraisers
- Provide the digital support for volunteer and field activities such as phone banking and peer to peer texting.
Qualifications
- Professional graphic design skills and videos creation skills for social media
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and other similar creative design and video production software, VAN, Votebuilder, Airtable, Stage Ten, Word Press and other
- Working knowledge of placing Facebook ad campaigns and/or other paid digital programs
- Proven experience growing social media and influence across platforms
- Experience working in a fast-paced campaign environment with an emphasis on rapid response
- Excellent communicator, copywriter, creative thinker, graphic designer
- Experience with photography and/or videography a plus
- Positive and solutions-oriented team member
Compensation is commensurate with applicant's experience. Salary range: $4,000 - $5,000.
